Last year I stayed at the Hotel Zapotlan as well. Nothing beats its location! You come out the door and you are right at the town square! The hotel itself leads a little back, so the rooms are not very affected from the huste and bustle of the road and the nearby shops. I opted for a Queen room with Spa bath. It is even further away from the road, but the hotel parking is close by. I always travel with ear plugs and a sleeping mask and in situations like this, I know why. The price is good and what you get for your money is worthwhile!

This time I was a bit disappointed with the service. If you are in your room the ladies from house keeping barely poke their nose in to clean the room. Also the ladies at the front desk seem to be new. Yes, they answer all your questions, but they don't really engage and don't try to find out whether you need something or not. Maybe my expectations are too high. Also, with the many pigeons flying around, to go into the pool is not super attractive...

Hotel Zapoltlan is a nice very hotel, not because it is very new or super up to date, but because it has character! A lot of history here! And I do like Zapotlan or sometimes it is called Ciudad Guzman Plus they are renovating the place, room by room! But only during the day, so there is no noise in the evening! The staff is really friendly and helpful and a shoutout to the cleaning staff - AMAZING! The location couldn't be better, you step outside the hotel and you are right downtown, at Central Plaza! But it is rather quiet because the rooms are further in the back! (at least my room was). They have a decent size, but very basic. Shower works and provides warm water! Also, they have bigger and better rooms. I wanted to stay an extra 3 days in the city and BOOKING.COM had an amazing offer for these better rooms, so I took advantage of that, but I will write a separate review for that.

Please don't expect anything fancy, it is a hotel with a lot of history(which means it is a bit old)! But I like it! Certainly not your average hotel!

I liked the location, the room cleaning and honesty of the hotel staff, the controls for the fan and lights were convenient. The room was a pleasant temperature. The air conditioning or fan worked well and the room never got too cold. Maids and personnel couldn’t go in your room unless you left your key with the front desk.

There was an open door to the street all the time and a little trash blew in, although there was cleaning of the floors every morning, the stairs often had litter and the carpet needed to be replaced on the stairs. There was no elevator and the first night they placed me in a room on the third floor even though I had requested a ground floor due to arthritis. They moved me to the second floor the next day but really didn’t have regular rooms on the first floor.

My first booking was a regular room, which I have already rated. I decided to extend my stay and upgraded to a better room (thanks to Booking.com - seriously the rate was practically the same and I got a bigger/better room with a jacuzzi!). That basically says it all! The room was bigger and nicer (doesn't mean the other wasn't nice, it just means this one was one step up, okay 1,5 steps up!). I enjoyed my stay at the Zapotlan Hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful, it is centrally located - perfect for me! Wifi works, it was clean, there was hot water in the shower - all good! Quite a few nice cafes and restaurants in walking distance. A few places where you get freshly squeezed juiced! Just behind the main cathedral. Or on the weekend there was a market, I ate from the street vendors - very delicious!

Northing comes to mind! Maybe next time I would invest a little more money in the better room the first time, it is really worth it!

Location is the best: in front of the downtown. About the service and facilities, I think that the amount of money I paid is good enough for what I received. Not so much comfortable but enough.

The bathroom did not have any window o way for the air flow. After to use it, the smells reach the bedroom. Also, rooms are not enough isolated so when anybody from other rooms where outside talking, you used to lessen all and not able to sleep.

Great location right across the street from downtown.

Bed way too small for 2 people. Call ahead to ask where the parking is because is not easy to find but it’s a very safe parking lot.

Really pretty, I loved the location everything was really close, love to walk around, the only thing I didn’t like it was that the noise outside
