This is a classic Thai hotel built during the Amazing Thailand promotional years to encourage tourism to this seldom visited part of Thailand. As such, it has a uniquely Thai feel, not a cookie cutter modern boutique vibe. Because of its age, it’s a bit tatty, but the public areas are well maintained and some modernization has been done in the rooms. Staff is friendly, breakfast is good. There are some unusual touches like electric vehicle charging and free loaner bicycles for exploring this very Thai town .

The aircon was a bit hard to control, and the bathrooms, though quite serviceable, definitely need a refresh.

Of the many provincial mid-range hotels I had in upcountry Thailand, Viang Tak offers the best value for money. It has oodles of amenities not always found in this price range, a staff throughout polite and eager to be helpful and an A1 location. Optionally it can be booked without breakfast. Free bicycles for guests. Only some of the many things that I personally enjoyed: very big clean tiled room with huge window and river view; electric outlet next to bed; no noisy fan in bathroom; water cooker; electricity stays on when you're out; hot shower and aircon worked well, shower doesn't flood the bathroom; key card and no big key tag; lots of shopping and morning market next door (but no disturbance); private (if slightly limited) parking obviously with 24 hours security.

Although we only stayed one night as a stop over we couldn't fault anything. From the pool to room service. Breakfast was excellent one of the best we,ve had nice pool but was a bit windy at the time we used it,and the staff were brilliant and help full. The room spacious and clean comfy beds with views over the river good warm shower good pressure. Will definitely book here again if in the area 1 regret is we never went out round the town.

Very good hotel on the river. Very comfortable and a good breakfast.

Expensive dinner and nowhere else to go in walking distance. A little isolated for travellers without a car.

Great location. The Room I had was excellent. It was comfortable, clean and had fabulous views of the Ping River. The Staff made me feel very welcome. The Hotel had bikes which were free for residents. I took advantage of using them and was able to get about Tak with ease. I even had my photo taken with the Tourist Police who were most helpful when I ask for directions.

There was nothing I didn’t like about the Hotel.

Great value for money for a one night stay , staff very friendly and pool was a bonus when it was so hot outside

I went looking for somewhere to eat but there isn't anything close I could find but I then found out what looked like a closed restaurant in the hotel they actually served food at night would have been nice to of been advised at checkin

Everything was great; location, breakfast, facilities, staff. Had the most wonderful sleep. My room had a great view of sunrise so enjoyed that too. Felt privileged. Thank you for a most wonderful stay!

For someone used to the simple pleasures of life, I felt luxurious. So, can't find anything to complain about.

My wife and I always like staying at this hotel, very private, quiet, excellent polite staff, great breakfast, good location, great views from corner rooms, room service food excellent. and such good value for a traditional Thai hotel.

I guess the TV stations were just the standard - no world news programmes or any App sites.

I had a comfortable stay here. (Tak is a good half way resting place between Bangkok and Chiang Mai). The hotel is centrally located and easy to find. It has excellent views of the river. Checkin was easy and relatively quick. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and everything worked as it should have. I had dinner in the hotel and it was quite good value for money. I had stayed here before so knew what it would be like. I would stay there again.

Nice location within easy walking distance to markets and great cafes. Supermarket 50m from front door with great craft beer.... and other necessities of course. Staff very nice and helpful. The scrambled eggs and mini omelettes were nice for breakfast. Lovely coffee anytime.

The wifi did not work in the room. Oh and the music from across the river was very clear till late (still pm though), but I can sleep through almost anything.
