The room was warm, welcoming and cosy. The Harris tweed was in keeping and the shower was fabulous. We had a fantastic sea view which was mesmerising and the bed was extremely comfortable. We understand a refurbishment is due to start next week or so, we hope the character remains. Breakfast was served in a slow but timely manner and was a full Scottish breakfast and was great.

The only let down as far as we were concerned was that the online advertised menu that drew us there was not available due to the forthcoming refurbishment plans. That is not to say that the food we eat wasn't good because it was superb, just not what we expected. We would have liked the lobster but had venison based meals instead.

The Inn is in a beautiful location and David and Leeanne are very welcoming and hands-on hosts. My room was compact but comfortable and well appointed. There was a minor unrepairable complication with the room that had arisen just prior to my arrival and David was extremely apologetic plus he conferred generous compensation. I have to also mention Maria in the bar who was informative and engaging.

Most disappointing was the brevity of my stay. I would love to have had a few nights plus I was unable to sample the full extent of (what would have been an excellent) breakfast due to a very early departure. Also, if the weather had been kinder I would have enjoyed my refreshments outside while admiring the views.

The location was stunning. The hotel was quite quaint but comfortable. The manager was very helpful and friendly. The hotel was dog friendly and our dog was allowed in the bar. The food was exceptional - dinner was excellent. Breakfast was included in the overnight price and was cooked to order. It was delicious. The bedrooms had Harris Tweed accessories.

Our room was quite small and a bit dated. The shower cabinet could have done with being updated.

Polochar Inn is on the southern tip of South Uist the view from the property is stunning. 360deg with Eriskay to the east, Barra across the sound to the south and North America just out of view across the horizon. 😎 The food was excellent in the morning for breakfast served in the panoramic restaurant with these fantastic views.😋😎 The staff were great, chatty and quick to fix up our room which had been set as a twin instead of a double. I would highly recommend this hotel to stay in or even just to go for a drink as the sun goes down with the waves lapping the rocks right in front of the entrances, there can't be many places with this kind of views😎👍👍👍

Absolutely amazing location overlooking the sea. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. They've only just taken over so we wish them every success with their new adventure but obviously very experienced in running pubs in the UK.

Room was not enormous but not particularly a problem - it's a traditional building. A shame that some motorhomes turned up and parked outside to spoil the view of the amazing sunset!

Beautiful location right on the water with sea views. Very sweet and kind staff who went above and beyond for us!

Thought we'd have 2 beds but ended up with 1 bed and a pull-out sofa bed. Room was very warm, but staff lent us their own personal fan to use due to my husband's medical condition.

Christina checked me in late at night. She was very friendly and efficient. The gentleman at breakfast was very helpful and interesting.

I found the front door very stiff and at first thought it was locked. There was also no lighting at the front door which would have been helpful as I wasn't familiar with the hotel or entrance.

Excellent location, lovely hotel, rooms were clean and comfortable Ryan and Georgia the new managers doing an excellent job, keen to get feedback and do things right. Even kept us informed on whether we were likely to see the northern lights, unfortunately not on the night we were there.

Food was good, my only criticism was that I ordered the sea bass. I wanted something fresh and light but as it had been coated in flour it was like fried crispy fish. Battered fish was on the menu so no fresh light options available.

if you are looking for a little bit of solitude at the end of the earth, this is about as good as it gets. Outside the front door is the North Atlantic Ocean! I was one of only 3 guests when I stayed in early November and it was fantastic. OK so the weather meant I had to say another night, but I was more than happy to. Very comfortable rooms and great staff. Even though it was “off season” the food was very nice and good value. As I said before the weather was terrible during my stay but you wouldn’t notice inside, the room was warm and so cosy.

It’s very difficult to find in the dark. for some reason the sat-nav takes you to a bungalow down the road! I would probably have found it in the daylight. Also the wind! being right on the edge of the island you do get the full force of any wind coming off the Atlantic and this took my motorcycle over, causing quite a bit of damage. Also the mobile phone coverage is a bit patchy.

Nice welcome from the owner. Lovely view from bedroom and the place looks as if it is in the process of being upgraded. Had a superb evening meal in a room which had a really nice atmosphere. Don't usually eat dessert but couldn't resist the cranachan.. delicious! There seemed to be lots of locals eating there too which is always a good sign. A great variety of cooked choices at breakfast time and we really couldn't do it justice as rushing for a ferry. Would certainly go back if on the area.

Lounge lacking a little in atmosphere. Maybe a wee bit more furniture in bedroom than needed and made it seem crowded... shower cubicle /fitting not the best but quite adequate.
