The location is stunning. The food was brilliant. The shower was very powerful and hot. There was plenty of parking(we were in a lorry) The Atlantic Ocean was about 20 feet from the front door.

We were over doing a job and were stranded because of the weather. We asked if we would be able to come back and stay the weekend if we didn't get on the ferry at Loch Maddy and they said it wouldn't be a problem. When we didn't get the other ferry we phoned to make sure we could come back and they said no and they were now closed. It left us in a bit of predicament but thankfully we found accommodation at The Borrowdale Hotel.

While our room was very small, it was still clean and nicely furnished, with amazing views of the sea. The staff were fantastic, really friendly, welcoming, engaging and helpful. We ate at the hotel both nights and the food was fantastic. The location is amazing, overlooking the beautiful beach, with stunning sunsets. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you again to all the staff, particularly the young lad (sorry, I didn't catch his name) who was there on his own the first night and did an amazing job of checking in, manning the bar and serving food - he worked amazingly hard!

As I said before, our room was very small, but this did not cause too many problems for us

Amazing location Great facilities. Kindly allowed us to leave car whilst we cycled south for a tour of eriskay, barra and vatersay. Staff were very nice and helpful. Thanks a lot!!

Our only gripe was the breakfast, definitely an area for improvement. Seemed to be understaffed , did not see the waiter until 10 mins after sitting down. No table menus but upon helping ourselves to continental buffet we found a menu for hot food. We were eventually served tea and coffee after a fair wait. It was so understaffed that the waiter could then not be found and appeared to be busy in kitchen or reception … unsure exactly. A good point was that we ended up in a rush for a ferry due to slow service and the waiter kindly offered quicker hot rolls. Food wasn’t anything to write home about but did the job. Absolutely not worth 15 pounds.

Bed was extremely comfortable! Had 2 excellent night's sleep. Location is beautiful. Great choice of seating areas. One member of staff (Tyler) went above and beyond helping with any queries we had and we felt he was very efficient in everything he did. Breakfast was excellently cooked - especially the mushrooms! Although the 2nd day breakfast I was given bacon and pork sausage instead of the vegan sausage. (I don't eat meat).

Staffing issues made second day a bit disorganised e.g dining in bar rather than restaurant. Some communication niggles which was rather annoying. Also, our room wasn't serviced between nights stayed I.e. no towels changed and no tea/coffee tray refills.

The room was warm, welcoming and cosy. The Harris tweed was in keeping and the shower was fabulous. We had a fantastic sea view which was mesmerising and the bed was extremely comfortable. We understand a refurbishment is due to start next week or so, we hope the character remains. Breakfast was served in a slow but timely manner and was a full Scottish breakfast and was great.

The only let down as far as we were concerned was that the online advertised menu that drew us there was not available due to the forthcoming refurbishment plans. That is not to say that the food we eat wasn't good because it was superb, just not what we expected. We would have liked the lobster but had venison based meals instead.

The location was beautiful the food was good. Staff friendly.

Our room was not serviced once even though we spent 5 nights there.we followed the in room instructions on how to get fresh towels but nothing happened. We had to ask for tea coffee etc to be replenished. Did not seem to be many staff around and so rarely anyone at reception or bar. It put a damper on our overall experience.

The Inn is in a beautiful location and David and Leeanne are very welcoming and hands-on hosts. My room was compact but comfortable and well appointed. There was a minor unrepairable complication with the room that had arisen just prior to my arrival and David was extremely apologetic plus he conferred generous compensation. I have to also mention Maria in the bar who was informative and engaging.

Most disappointing was the brevity of my stay. I would love to have had a few nights plus I was unable to sample the full extent of (what would have been an excellent) breakfast due to a very early departure. Also, if the weather had been kinder I would have enjoyed my refreshments outside while admiring the views.

Well presented and traditional inn & hotel. Lovely bar, lounge and restaurant with great Scottish food. Good beer and choice of wines and friendly staff. Location is at the southern tip of South Uist overlooking Barra. On a sunny day it is an outstanding view.

The property has undergone an upgrade with the final piece being the outside needs painted. This is happening in the next few weeks.

Great location, loved the traditional style of the building. Wonderful, friendly staff who also made our dog very welcome.

Room quite small. Slow service at breakfast. On our first night at dinner ordered a crab risotto which clearly was not a risotto! But dish swapped for another with no issue and no cost. Dinner on second night was sublime. Recommend the langoustines.

The room was furnished really nicely. Lovely bathroom. Room was very generously sized. Good location. Friendly service. Good to be able to book somewhere where could eat on site at the restaurant even though very late in the season.

The fixtures are a little bit tired but everywhere was clean and tidy and soft furnishings were all lovely.
