Central, easy access, walking distance to the train station and the university. Clean and spacious for one person. Confortable bed too. I was offer the option of sustainable room cleaning, which I chose and it was respected!

My room was on 3rd floor noises from the street at bed time were expected, but the party in another adjacent room at 2am was annoying (the earplugs were provided. and saved the 1st night!). second night was excellent and quiet even without the earplugs.

Despite the temperature being -20c or below, the rooms are super warm for night time sleeping. I was too hot at night and found it difficult to sleep in such a hot room. I turned off the heating but it did not help much.

Perfect location in the heart of town. Friendly staff and the room was wonderful. Very clean and quiet, with lots of space.

Good location with restaurants and shopping in same complex. Parking convenient and easy to manage with hotel. Breakfast is good.

When exiting the breakfast room there is NO WAY out without key card which I already returned in check out. That is a risk in case of fire.

Large very clean room. The sauna and fitness facilities were good and the breakfast excellent.

Resto not open Sunday evening. The working desk was very small.

Vaakuna is a good choice when staying in Joensuu as it is centrally located and offers all the comforts. We enjoyed our stay and will return.
