What a gem of a hotel, located in the heart of a beautiful historic town! The staff was extremely warm and welcoming, the breakfast was delicious--and served in beautifully frescoed halls in a historic building! I highly recommend this hotel! The views from my balcony of the Basilicata countryside and the bell tower of the cathedral were wonderful and relaxing! The room was very clean and comfortable as well.

Elegant accommodations in a historic palazzo within walking distance of the castle as well as the Roman archaeological site. The room was spacious and well furnished, a buffet breakfast was provided in a beautiful dining room. This breakfast offered the BEST cappuccino of all the many hotels we’ve stayed in Italy. The parking is right in front of the building. Highly recommend and would stay here again!

breakfast is very local, only one type of cheese and a few types of biscuits. Breakfast should be more varied. Especially for Italy, I would expect olives, olive oil and greens in the breakfast.

The location is good, within walking distance of both the city centre and the archeological park. The staff were friendly and helpful, although little English was spoken when I was there. If you come by bus (the train station is closed so there is no train to Venosa), note that the bus stops outside the closed train station which several kilometres down the hill from the city centre, so make sure you have arranged transport from the bus stop up to the city.

Venosa is a well preserved hidden gem for someone interested in Roman culture ( Via Appia, Horace), medieval sights ( The Hautevilles, eccentric Gesualdo) and this beautifully restored hotel preserves wonderful “ bones from the 1400s and skin from the 1800s”. What best than stay at the residence of the Bali’s of the Knights of Malta… thank you Dino for the history lesson.

Fabulous place. Beautiful old palace - we were shown some of rooms by the lady who served us breakfast. Breakfast very good - home baked goods and jams. Great location. Would recommend.

Beautiful hotel , rich history, located in the center of the old town . Beautiful experience to stay there and the two ladies, the one who runs the hotel and the lady at the breakfast, they are magnificent, fabulous customer service

One of the nicest hotel which date back to the 1400's. The proprietors were warm and friendly. Restaurants and castle all in walking distant.

Hotel Orazio is easily accessible by car, and well situated near all activities in Venosa. Breakfast was good and staff was attentive. Good place to stay when visiting the north of Basilicata.
