From start to finish, this was a wonderful stay. Luigi (the owner) welcomed us right we arrived. He brought us up to the check-in and kindly reminded us of the nearby parking options, available spa services, and how if we needed any help or had any questions, he and Donna (the front desk manager) are always available. The restaurant food was excellent, and the chef accommodated our vegetarian diet for dinner. Wine selections were ample. We stayed in one of the larger rooms, which is very modern and comfortable although we barely spent any time in it since there is so much to enjoy in Castelmezzano and we were there during a two-day festival. The natural beauty; the culture; the historic sites (this village has an amazing story, dating back more than 1,000 years); and the gentle, soulful spirituality that invites you to connect keeps us coming back. Hopefully our next visit will be a little longer.

Our check-in was very confusing, as a reservation I had canceled for last month kept being brought up, but, once we got in our room, we relaxed a bit. The rooms are teeny, but totally renovated, so fine for a night or two. We were in #1, with spectacular views of the mountains and a nice little balcony. Dinner was excellent - beautiful menu - and our Scottish waitress could not have been better or nicer, especially since she was serving the whole room. Breakfast was small, but good - fresh cantaloupe, watermelon and mango were wonderful! You really shouldn't miss Castelmezzano and strolling the town, both day and night - it is truly spectacular!!
Small rooms, but they are well-designed.

Hotel Dolomiti provided an excellent stay in the wonderful village of Castelmezzano. Although the highlights of our stay were the wonderfully attentive staff and the expert chef preparing our dinners, the hotel exceeded our expectations. Perfectly located at the edge of the village allowing for easy drop off of luggage with nearby convenient parking and only a relatively short gradual uphill walk to the village center. The room was spacious with a nice balcony overlooking the village with spectacular views on the Lucan Dolomites. From the balcony you could watch arrivals to Castelmezzano on the Volo degli Angeli. The bed was most comfortable and the bathroom spacious with excellent shower and roomy shower stall. Breakfast varied, fresh and tasty. View of the village from the small central piazza spectacular. Excellent gelato in the village as well as convenient bars at the piazza. Many restaurants in the lively village with a lot of activity in the late afternoon and evening, but certainly not obtrusive. Beautiful landscapes arriving to and departing from the village.

Highly recommend this property for the value and the clean, modern and new designed hotel. The included breakfast is lovely. Even offered made to order eggs. Staff is so pleasant and helpful! The view from our room was amazing. We had a balcony that allowed us to see the Dolomites and the stunning spring flowers not to mention watch the riders on the angel zipline. After dusk, we enjoyed the fireworks in the town up in the Dolomites. Really special!

The hotel was easy to get to and just inside the ZTL, with subsidised parking close by. Our street front parking had a mountain view. Breakfast was great. The rooms are very tidy and clean and quite modern.
Be aware that the road in front of the hotel is very busy and the town is very busy over weekends. We had a very disturbed night with motor bikes and party groups in the road outside our second floor windown until 3am.

The hotel is situated at the entrance of Castelmezzano which makes it a perfect place for seeing people move in and out of the village, for viewing festival activities, and as a meet-up location. We liked being in a location full of activity. The hotel is nicely appointed with modern furnishings. The proprietor (Luigi) couldn't be nicer and his staff (especially Carmen and Maria) could not have been more helpful. We loved staying at Hotel Dolomiti, we were sad to leave, and grateful that it was the perfect home for our delightful first stay in beautiful Castelmezzano.
It would have been nice if the breakfast would have changed a little bit more. We ate breakfast at the hotel all 5 days and each day was pretty much the same offering. It was good and we enjoyed it, but a bit more variety would have been great. This is the only minor detail I could conjure to mention and really is insignificant in the larger scope of our fullest enjoyment of the property, the proprietor, and his staff.

There is something ancient and magical about Castelmezzano, and Hotel Dolomiti manages to marry these rare, unspoiled aspects with the conveniences and comforts one expects in a 21st century hotel. Architecturally, the exterior appears like a quaint European chalet, quite natural in mountain village—but inside, the rooms and the bathrooms are modern, spacious, and immaculate with first-rate air conditioning and wifi. From the balcony we experienced views that are nothing short of breathtaking, while on the ground level we enjoyed the delicious Lucanian cuisine and excellent wine on the outdoor terrace. Beyond all of this, what puts Hotel Dolomiti over the top is the caring and kindness we received from the owner Luigi and his wonderful staff, including Carmen, Asia, and others. We were so happy to return to this wonderful gem, and hopefully we will be able to return many more times in the near future!

I loved everything about Hotel Dolomiti!!! It is easy to find, in a great location, with a restaurant and bar and even a spa on site. Everything you need. It’s a short walk into the old town area which is amazing to explore. The hotel is newly renovated with well equipped rooms. My room on the top floor had a balcony overlooking the village - book that one if you can. Gorgeous views and a great place to sit and sip an aperitivo. The staff is amazing! Luigi the host was so helpful and always available and ensured a comfortable stay. He told me about the history of the property and we had many great conversations. The restaurant staff was great - bartender Mauro introduced me to delicious amaro - Tonico del Poeta. The spa staff, Rita and Debra, pampered me in the spa. I had the whirlpool, sauna and steam room all to myself. I really enjoyed the salt scrub. The hotel has a lift so you do not need to carry bags up any stairs - I’m always glad to find a lift! I would give Hotel Dolomiti 100 stars if I could. I would come back to Castelmezzano just to stay here again.
Everything was perfect.

Hotel is very well located in a gorgeous little village. We booked a double with mountain view and it was lovely, very nicely decorated with a big comfy bed and superb double-glazing which blocked out all exterior noise. Our balcony had a glorious view and is worth paying the extra for. The woman who checked us in couldn't have been more helpful and spoke really good English too. Breakfast was buffet-style in the hotel's ground floor restaurant and was good. All the public areas were lovely too.
Not the hotel's fault but parking was a nightmare due to a festival that was on - however, the hotel gave us a voucher to keep the cost down. Front door is hard to find and the steps up to it were quite uneven.

The hotel staff was very welcoming and the property is quite modern and stylish. A wide assortment of baked goods, yogurt, fruit, juices, coffee, etc were served for breakfast in the restaurant or on the front deck. Our room was exceptionally clean and well-appointed. But the very best thing we liked was THE VIEW! OMG! Breathtakingly stunning. You have to see it to understand what I mean. A beautiful place to sit out on the balcony and watch the sun move, changing the appearance of the mountaintops as the day passes. And also lovely to sip a glass of wine in the darkness of night looking at the glowing lights of Pietrapertosa across the valley. WOW! Castelmezzano was a great homebase for our travels to various towns within Basilicata.
I honestly cannot think of anything I didn't like! (That's a rarity for someone who is as critical as myself.)
