Super clean and comfortable room and bed - slept so well! And even though the room was overlooking the main road, it was dead quiet, which was appreciated. Reception was efficient (although could get busy if unlucky with timing). We had a lovely visit to the spa, and splashed out once for the breakfast, which turned out to be quite a spread - good value if you're hungry and treat it more as brunch than breakfast. Easy short walk into the centre of town and many attractions. It was surprising that such a big hotel could feel so relaxed (although breakfast could get busy). Nice atmosphere overall and really enjoyed our stay.

Really nothing to complain about. Would have liked robes in the room for the spa, and perhaps more English language channels and tea selection, but I'm really just trying to find something to say here. Everything was great.

We only used the hotel for sleeping, the beds were really comfortable, pillows were also very comfortable. So much on your doorstep, beautiful cathedral, very friendly staff in all restaurants we visited. Exceptional cafe off a side street before getting to the cathedral.. called ‘ Patissere Mess ‘ very nice owner, reasonably priced coffee and pastries! Beautiful walks to parks and along side the river where we spotted a kingfisher on a couple of occasions. ..

The hotel is modernising its bedrooms and access. The receptionist grabbed my bag and ran it up the stairs. Much appreciated, although the bag wasn't big. Free parking down the hill and through the park was not a problem after my bag was offloaded just outside the front door. Historic square with everything within a short walk including a market when I was there. My credit card was left with reception who couriered it to me safely with bubble wrap and a card look inside an envelope. Much appreciated. Breakfast was good in the stately lounge.

Well...the hotel was in the process of alteration so that the circuitous method to get to the lift and then to the room was not what one might expect but it worked ok.

The staff and service were excellent. The food was excellent. The bed and linens were very good quality. The mattress was comfortable. The bathtub was great. Room service was efficient and friendly.

There were no glass or porcelain cups / glasses in the room. It was all paper. The furniture in the sitting area was not comfortable.

Fabulous location with easy, free parking close by. Good instructions on parking received from the hotel. Very quiet room. Attractive traditional hotel with modern facilities (good shower, lights etc). Excellent good value evening meal in the Bistro. Didn't eat in the dining room but very impressive room and menu.

Wider bed as there was space for king size rather than queen size between the bedside ledges.

Hotel was in a great location by the restaurants. They allowed us into the hotel earlier when the rooms were ready

There was no local guide book in the hotel room to inform you of breakfast times, restaurant options and menus or local information of the area. Our room was a little small and not much room to move around, tv was on a portable stand which we kept tripping over. Would have preferred if it was attached to the wall. the bell on reception didn't work

Location in the heart of town. Easy to find. Had dinner there and the restaurant was excellent. We sat outside through a fabulous thunderstorm but the staff braved the rain and still served us with grace and good humour. Hotel is simple but good value. Restaurant gets full marks all round.

Location was great, lovely and accommodating staff. The room was clean and small but dated the bathroom was new modern and very good I can see the hotel is lovely but has a little bit of a refurbishment taking place so I can only imagine my next visit will better even better.. besides that it’s a great hotel great location and very nice staff I would visit again

A spacious room and bathroom with a great view over the square. Breakfast was good as was the restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The decoration in the room was a bit tired but perfectly serviceable.

We only stayed 1 night & didn’t eat there so can’t comment on too much. The staff were great; very professional, informative & helpful. It was a beautiful old historic building in a great location in the centre of town.
