We loved our stay at the Hotel Ohana for several reasons. First of all, the hotel itself. Large windows on both sides of the hotel overlook beautifully landscaped gardens. Totem poles carved from eucalyptus support the high ceiling, while the wood staircase and banister give the lobby a lovely warmth. The dining area is open and airy, with floor to ceiling windows. Our room was large and open, with a desk area, large bed, large bathroom, and a great view of the garden and ocean from our private deck. Breakfast was included, and each morning we were treated to fresh fruit, fresh squeezed fruit juice, yoghurt, cereal, eggs made to order, toast and pancakes, and a nice variety of teas and coffee. Their chef, Chelo, works magic, and the dinner we enjoyed was just over-the-top amazing. Ohana means family in Hawaiian. And the warm and welcoming staff truly treated us like family. Pablo and Felipe were very helpful in planning tours and events for us while on the island. We peppered them with questions about Rapa Nui culture, and appreciate all they shared with us. We were pleased to learn that Hotel Ohana won some awards for sustainability. They use solar to heat the water in the hotel. Large containers of soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided in the bathroom and shower, instead of the small, plastic bottles that are thrown away after each guest. We even noticed that the trash bags are biodegradable. A nice little printed sign reminds guests that they can help the island save water by not requiring daily changing of sheets and/or towels. Guests can fill their water bottles from the 5 gallon bottle of spring water in the kitchen. We really appreciate each of these thoughtful efforts to provide sustainable tourism for travelers like us. The new swimming pool will be open soon!

As other reviewers have said, the hotel is not in the center of town. This does make it very quiet however. We used the taxi recommended by the hotel and found it very convenient and inexpensive. Don't let the location keep you from choosing this hotel!

There is absolutely nothing negative to say about this place. Firstly, the staff is beyond amazing! From the moment they welcomed us at arrival until our departure, they treated us like family. They showed no hesitation in striving to exceed expectations. Very attentive and friendly. The rooms were spotless and spacious (one of the largest and cleanest bathrooms). The air conditioner works very well! The grounds were manicured and well taken care of (fruit was growing on trees all around ready to be picked - which we did!). The breakfast was consistently good and filling. Also, the location was quite peaceful. No sounds of barking dogs to keep you up.

The staff were very accommodating. They went out of their way to make sure everything we wanted to experience, worked. If we couldn't get a taxi, they drove us themselves. They truly bent over backwards for us. The rooms are nice and the chef is excellent with her unique flavors and excellent plating. They will organize tours and car/bike rentals too. They seem to truly enjoy their jobs and take pride in making sure you're happy.

The hot tub was broken. I don't like it when something you pay for, isn't working. There were dogs next door that barked at 4:30 am., three mornings in a row for over an hour and woke us up. Kinda sucks when you're on vacation.

Hotel staff picked us up at the airport and gave us an orientation drive around the city. Check in was smooth and the second-floor room was very spacious and comfortable, with air conditioning as needed. While there was no elevator, the staff carried up the luggage. The grounds were very well presented (the most beautiful we noticed among other properties), and the pool and hot tub were ready - we spent some time in the hot tub! Breakfast was good, with eggs or omelets prepared to order. Tours were easily arranged at the desk as were taxi services - normally $5 to the main city area for shows and restaurants. Check out was efficient as well. Of special note: My wife had a severe tooth and gum infection that developed prior to Rapa Nui and got worse while there. While checking out this was mentioned at the desk. Staff member Juan then used is own vehicle and took her to the hospital, translated symptoms, translated insurance and payment information, took us to a drug store for prescription pick up, and then took us to the airport in time to meet our departing flight. We appreciate and owe our ability to continue on our South American adventure to him and the flexibility showed by management at Hotel Ohana!

Friendly welcome at the airport and hotel. The location was good, still walkable distance to the town but quiet at night (i.e. almost no dog noise). The hotel is new and our room was spacious with a nice balcony and furniture. The staff were very friendly and organised a knowledgeable private guide for us who showed us the main sites in one day. We didn't have time to use the pool but it seemed a nice area.

The public spaces and ambience were functional, the choices at breakfast could perhaps be improved. Coffee maker, kleenex and magnifying mirror in the room would have been great given the price tag...

We had a great stay at Hotel Ohana. Room is spacious with all amenities. Staff is very attentive and friendly. We feel very welcoming at the hotel. Stayed during Christmas and we even received little Christmas present from the hotel, very sweet. Both Pablo speak very good English so it’s very easy to communicate with them and get information. Breakfast has lots of varieties and has different products everyday, including fresh juice and freshly made omelette or eggs. Had lunch at the hotel as well, extremely good food. A bit far from the Main Street so it’s very nice and quiet in the hotel area and garden/pool.

We received excellent service during our Rapa Nui tour, which included wonderful lunches and dinners made from local ingredients. The arrangements for our local tours were very responsive, and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable. The room we stayed in was spacious, quiet, and offered a beautiful view of the garden and the ocean. Additionally, the bedding was exceptionally comfortable.

The staff were amazing. Pablo and Pablo were incredibly welcoming and gave me a private tour of Hanga Road on pickup, gave me all the information I needed and recommended restaurants, gave me a flower necklace on arrival and a necklace to keep upon leaving. I also had some private tours through the hotel and Gina was a great tour guide and provided loads of good historical information about the sights

There wasn't anything I disliked

Great little hotel with spacious rooms. Comfortable bed, good shower. Nice and helpful (booking of restaurants and downtown taxi transfer) young staff! Varied breakfast buffet with homemade pastry! Nice pool and garden.

The hotel has no restaurant and during our stay did not even serve snacks. It seems that they intend to introduce at least a reduced menu for people who arrive hungry from the flight or do not want to go to town for dinner. For the time being you are forced to take a taxi unless you have a rental car. There had been no glasses in the room...
