We had a wonderful stay at one of the Gooderson Resorts. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the service throughout our visit was excellent. Breakfast was a real highlight – fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented each morning. Our room and bathroom were spotless and smelled fresh, which made settling in easy and comfortable. There were plenty of amenities on offer, and we enjoyed making the most of what the resort had to offer, despite the cold weather. The surrounding scenery, especially with the snow on the mountains, was absolutely breathtaking and added a special touch to our stay. That said, one area that could use improvement is the room heating. The temperatures dropped quite a bit during our visit, and although there was a heater in the room, it didn’t provide much warmth. We would recommend adding electric blankets to the beds and upgrading to larger oil heaters to ensure guests stay cozy during those colder months. Overall, a lovely experience – with just a few small tweaks, it would be perfect for a winter getaway.

We had a great time at Gooderson Drakensburg. Very clean place, all the comfort we needed. The food was good as well. The kids had plenty of entertainment. The staff was very friendly!! We absolutely loooved the scenery! Breathtaking views!!!! We were there beginning May. Perfect timing! Blue sky all the way, the Drakensberg mountains magnificent, trees in all the colours and shades of autumn! Amazing! We did some nice walks/trails around the place.

May be the trails around the property should be better indicated and marked. We got lost at times.

The grilled hake and pork belly (Saturday Dinner) at Bergview was nice. The ribeye steak and lamb shank at Vine Knot was nice (Sunday, Thursday and Friday Dinner). The pork ribs and chicken cajun pasta was nice at Vine Knot (Monday and Thursday Dinner). The sirloin at Vine Knot was nice (Tuesday Dinner). The Meat Lover's pizza was nice (Wednesday Dinner). Housekeeping was on point and generally on time. Waiter service was great during our stay. The restaurant supervisors are very friendly and ensure that guests are well taken care of. Plenty of hiking trails and lots to do for nature lovers (snakes and baboons alert!!!) Facilities and activities reasonably priced. Met some friendly guests too. Quiet destination away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Ideal place to relax, detox and recharge batteries

Daily complimentary water not offered like most other vacation spots we have been to. WiFi extension required. We couldn't connect from our room. Burger at Bistro Cafe not ayoba; couldn't finish it. The patty tastes and smells subpar. The roll quality also needs improvement. No smart TV option for days when visitors do not want to go outside and looking to rest from hiking and activities. Improve signage and clearance of hiking trails. Breakfast is usually a buffet. It's quick and convenience. One day they changed the breakfast to an a la carte menu. Our breakfast order was received about 30 minutes after ordering.

On Saturday were the 15.02.25 eating dinner ,a white guy came in wearing full black ,I will say a manger maybe.He came in to check food The guy was raisist,he was only to check tabled with white guest only be kept on checking did about 3 rounds , never looked at tables with african guest he will stand there and I can hear that he is checking if everything is okey and if there's anything He can do for them I felt like african guest are not welcome in that place and we are treated different We all paid same money ,we were there because we also affor8f

Loved the facilities, the rooms were so spacious and clean. Food was good. Buffet selection was excellent.

The spa and gym do not allow under 16s. The heated indoor pool is adults only, so my kids were quite disappointed .

The meals were sufficient especially breakfast , lunches we did have at the Bistro and it was very good, Dinners were acceptable although a bit under my expectations. Room was comfy , well equipped and secure also very clean. Also as hotel guests we were allowed to use the SPA area with the hot mineral pool and jacuzzi.. This was the highlight of our stay and really the only attraction which would warrant a return stay. Children were catered for 200% with lots of water entertainment. we also found the staff to be very accommodating and friendly.

Dinners (apart from the buffets on Friday and Saturday ) were a bit of a disappointment as you were restricted. The menu lists were limited. At Bergview we were restricted to R 295-00 pp which actually did not allow you 3 courses the meal prices were above normal . At the Vineknot you were allowed only 2 courses which was a bit upsetting and their prices were also very high. normally on a half/full board cool drinks and wine are included, here everything was paid for ( as extras ) at ridiculous prices example, cheapest glass of wine was R 65-00 min , cool drinks R 29-00 / 300ml tin and bottled water 500ml was R 19-00. General entertainment was also not available except for one karaoke night which was a complete flop.

Everything was absolutely gorgeous. The view of the Lesotho mountains capped with snow and the variety of food for breakfast and dinner were great. There was always lots to do and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Only that the restaurants and spa were fully booked for the days we were there. We had to leave the property and go to a neighbouring one for dinner on the last night because we didn’t feel like a buffet for the final night. Apparently people who were aware booked the restaurants and spa the day they arrived, I think in future as people check in, the reception staff should inform all guests of that too.

The staff were so accommodating and friendly. There is an endless list of activities to do. The food is absolutely fantastic. The hiking trails had breathtakingly beautiful views and were clearly marked. We will definitely be back, we enjoyed every second. What's also appreciated is how serene the place is, they have no tolerance for noise. We had one or two cold rainy days, so they lit the fireplace for us in the peacock lounge where we could play board games and watch movies, with the most incredible views of the mist over the mountains, it was heavenly.

We only stayed overnight, as we were travelling up the Sani Pass to Lesotho. There are lots of recreational activities eg tennis, cycling, bowls, horse riding, hiking, so it would have been nice to stay longer. All the staff were helpful. We stayed in winter, and they have heated lights in the bathrooms! Wonderful as the temperature was 2-4degC!

They advertise 5 restaurants. Only 2 open for lunch and 2 open for supper. 1 was fully booked for supper, so we had to settle for the buffet. R320pp. Food, especially the roast meat, was cold, and they had run out of lamb. When we booked the accommodation, I requested an interleading door as we had a child, which they didn't book. After doing a "Karen", they changed us to what we requested. It is 25km away from Underberg and not on the road to Sani Pass, not the ideal "stopover" if one's intention is to stay in Underberg before traveling up the Sani Pass.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Gooderson! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place offers a refreshing and energizing experience. The facilities were spotless, and there was so much to do, from hiking and swimming in the hippo pools to enjoying a game of putt-putt, just to name a few. There truly is something for everyone to do, making it a perfect destination for all types of guests. Each day offered its own exciting activity to enjoy and make lasting memories. The great views all around added to the beauty and serenity of the location, making it even more enjoyable. The staff truly made the experience special they were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist with anything needed. As for the food, it was nothing short of spectacular each meal was a delightful treat! I left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and thoroughly satisfied. Highly recommend!
