I spent 2 nights at Dunkeld East and 2 nights Dunkeld estate, the first two nights at Dunkeld east where incredible, the property is calm and has a intimate atmosphere, there’s a sense of serenity, I took a run through the property which was breathtaking, the rooms are spacious and cozy and the fire place is great for keeping warm in the winter. The main lobby was great for drinking wine and just relaxing with incredible views of the lake. Special mention to Marie Anne and Micheal in management who made the stay so much more valuable

Michael and the two incredible gentlemen from the bar and restaurant were more than just hosts; they were caretakers of our experience, ensuring every moment was filled with comfort, joy, and sincerity. We had a wonderful time at Dunkeld East this past weekend as we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. The place is incredibly serene, with a beautiful flowing dam welcoming you at the entrance. Our picnic experience by the forest was truly special, huge thanks to the lady at reception for arranging it for us and to the team, including Michael, Mayo, and the chef, for setting everything up despite the weather. Everything went smoothly, and the forest itself was breathtakingly tranquil. On Sunday morning at breakfast, Michael shared the rich history of Dunkeld and its equestrian heritage, which we really appreciated. Kudos to the team for the fantastic work done on the property! Later, we went paddling, assisted by Mayo. My husband then took over, and we had an amazing time gliding across the dam, where we were lucky enough to spot a Fish Eagle. The scenery was absolutely stunning. A special mention to Bongani, our waiter, who made our stay memorable too. Before our departure, Michael suggested a site visit to the main hotel, which had equally beautiful scenery. We stopped by the viewing deck and saw alpacas, zebras, and magnificent horses, a perfect way to end our trip. Thank you to the entire team for an unforgettable experience!

The hotel is set in a beautiful area which allows for nice walks in nature. The scenery is quiet and serene.. the rooms are modern and efficiently de orated. They have all you need for a. Comfortable stay

The rooms are very nice, but have absolutely no sound proofing. Besides us there was one other couple in the whole place and they were given the room next to us. We could hear every word they were saying ! They were not particularly loud, but the walls are apparently very thin. This made it hard for us to get a good sleep. Secondly, the air in Dullstroom was fresh and crisp but the room was warm and stuffy. We opened the windows but without a fan we could not get cold air coming through. Only option would have been opening the sliding door, which we didn’t feel safe to do.

Cappuccinos and similar coffees should be included in the included breakfast - rather add 50:- to the room price instead of making people pay extra. There was only a choice of one white wine and one red wine in the restaurant and bar and they were not great so more options would be great! A curtain or something to separate the bed area from the bathroom as there is zero privacy if you go to the bathroom as toilet is completely open to the rest of the room

Breakfast was good, area was nice and quiet, the view from the deck is excellent and facilities were clean and comfortable.

Rooms should have a ceiling fan at least, there is only one opening window and it is at the back. There could be a one way screen installed at the entrance door for a bit more privacy, room doors are next to each other. The toilets are visible from the front door so you need to keep the curtains closed for privacy, look at frosting this glass by the toilet at least. Also no small fridge available in the suite so we could not keep water and drinks cool. We experienced some load shedding, look at backup lights in the room.

Modern finishes and beautiful interior design !

I didn’t like that we had to pay for the firewood. The place is freezing because of the dam that’s in front of the units. The rooms should have been better insulated from the onset. I also don’t like that I could hear everything that was going on in the neighbouring rooms. That cheapens the experience! The guests who were staying next to us were also going out of their way to make those very annoying noises.

The accommodation was charming, with beautiful rooms and a beautiful setting. The staff were excellent—very helpful and friendly!

The restaurant was not very pleasant, with the food being very average for that sort of establishment. We also noticed that the menu was still exactly the same as in October 2023. For an establishment like this, you would expect bigger bath towels and more than one hand towel for two guests.

We loved the hotel, the staff, decor and food exceptional - and cannot be faulted.

Unfortunately, the walls of the rooms (maybe too thin) or bathroom window location - resulted in us hearing everything going on by the couple next door to us ....all night. I would also suggest for anyone going on a romantic week-end - the open toilet is not an option for most people.
