Warm welcome and lovely staff, nice and interesting big room.

As we came late, we were hungry and around the hotel there are no other places to eat, so we were proposed to eat at the upstairs restaurant. Unfortunately we were all alone, no waiter, no music, nothing, just tables and chairs and silence. It felt cold and quite awkward, so we decided to order room service and eat in the room. We saw the kitchen while passing by and it did not really inspired us for a good dinner. Unfortunately the order took one hour to come to the room, weirdly because we were one of the 3 rooms taken that night from the whole hotel. The food was not delicious and more like "microwaved". Also the shower floor was passing the water for the rest of the washroom and not well isolated at all. No toilet paper was found.

From the welcoming cup of ginger tea on arrival, to the arranging of a tuktuk to take us to the railway station on departure, we were treated with the highest level of generosity and kindness from an extremely professional team of staff. Fort Windshire is out of town, affording lovely views of the surrounding landscape. Based around the theme of a medieval castle, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. We opted for in-house dining and the master chef produced some of the most delicious and filling food we have experienced on our Sri Lanka trip. Breakfast was freshly cooked, delicious and plentiful.

The room was exceptional. Was very spacious. Really clean and met our expectations. The view was breathtaking. The food was delicious! Special compliments to the chef. The staff were very helpful and so nice. We are definitely coming back if we are visiting Nuwara Eliya again.

The road that led to the hotel. It was steep and narrow. Not ideal for a larger vehicle. But the hotel and the view is worth the climb. We were also informed that the road will be fixed very soon.

Everything!! This was my second time staying at this amazing hotel, and once again, everything exceeded my expectations. The breathtaking views, delicious food, and, most importantly, the incredible staff made my experience truly unforgettable. Everyone treated me with the utmost respect and displayed exceptional hospitality throughout my stay. A special thank you to the Chef for the amazing food it was absolutely delicious! Richard, thank you for arranging everything so perfectly for the second time. I truly appreciate your efforts and hope we’ll meet again during my next trip. Manial, you are such a wonderful soul—thank you for always checking on us and being so kind. Your warmth and attentiveness truly stood out. I’m sorry I don’t remember everyone’s name, but each one of you contributed to making my second visit extraordinary. Thank you all for such a memorable experience. I’m already planning my next trip back!

We stayed there 1 night as a business foreign group who met srilanka for the first time. The weather conditions were very stormy and cold, which is very exceptional for Sri Lanka. However, this hotel was able to control the situation well for the guests. The room & hotel facilities design perfectly, also Mrs. Manil is the gorgeous manager , Breakfast is good , 2 types , you should choose it from the night before. The room views so beautiful.

Actually, nothing. The hotel location is at the Route before nuwrelia when you come from Ella .if you need to go out or buy something, you didn't have any choice until the town , around 10 minutes, you are on the way to midtown .

Starting with the warm welcome, to the time of the checkout, the staff were really friendly and made sure that our stay was comfortable, especially the manager lady. We were offered excellent facilities like they helped us carry the luggage, they also taught us how to use the heaters, etc. We were really satisfied with the food as well and thank you for the wonderful services offered.

The only issue was the road as it was quite difficult to reach the location, but it is most likely to be made in July, they said.

We recently had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The service was outstanding, with staff who truly went the extra mile to make my visit enjoyable. The manager lady , was especially attentive and welcoming, creating a friendly atmosphere throughout our time there. The rooms were impeccably clean and well-maintained, providing a cozy and comfortable environment. We particularly appreciated the spaciousness of our room, which boasted a beautiful view of the mountains—ideal for unwinding after a busy day. The dining experience was a highlight, especially the Sri Lankan breakfast, which was incredibly flavorful and memorable.

The only downside was the challenging road leading to the hotel, which We hope will be improved soon.

Excellent service! I asked for a change of a double room to a twin room. They replied quickly that the room was upgraded, not asking for additional fee. I asked some other questions and prompt replies were received. Staff were friendly and polite. Choices were given for the breakfast. Both western and Sri Lankan styles were superb. The morning fog and mountain view were spectacular. The hotel was newly renovated with stylish castle decorations. Rooms were spacious, warm and comfortable. We stayed here for 2 nights, an enjoyable stay! It was a few kilometers from the town centre, a short distance from the lake district. The road going up the slopes to the hotel was a bit bumpy. I was not sure if tuk tuk with loads of luggage could make it. We rented a car and our local driver could make it. Accommodation and food were provided to both our driver and tourist guide, a generous offer.

The Hotel is like a Medieval fort. The interior was fully decorated with shields, swords, big paintings, medieval music in the lobby, really transforming you to another world! It's just a 15 minute, 3$ tuk ride to the town. The rooms were really luxurious with a breathtaking view of mountains from one side and a village from another. With that view and the tranquility of the location, one can truly relax and recuperate!

The safe wasn't working, but the staff took care of it promptly!

Our stay at Fort Windshire was simply extraordinary. The hotel’s architecture has followed medieval design depicting vikings era. To me it's an unique boutique hotel. The rooms are very spacious with stunning views of mountains. The hotel is located overlooking Haggala mountain and other mountain ranges. It's simply breathtaking when mist is hovering around mountains. The Seetha Amman temple is in close proximity of the hotel and this temple has links to Ramayana literature.  One can also visit Nanuoya waterfall, also known as Glassough waterfall, as well as Bomuruella waterfall. To reach Bomuruella waterfall, you need to walk about one or two kms inside, which itself is an adventure where one can enjoy some hot street food. The Nanuoya waterfall is quite close to the road.  A tuk-tuk ride is the best way to travel around, which can be arranged through the hotel. Our tuk-tuk driver was Buddhika, who made our journey a pleasant and enjoyable one. If you want to relax and unwind,  just stay in the room or go to the lobby and enjoy the medieval settings and sumptuous and quality food range the hotel offers. I want to make a special mention of the receptionist Romia, Duty Managers Richard & Manil, the chefs Prabath and Nissanka, who provided personalized and excellent service to make our stay a memorable one that exceeded our expectations. Thank you all for your valuable efforts.  The team effort to provide an extraordinary service to each and every guest is remarkable and exemplary. Fort Windshire is a great place to unwind a busy life and a place to experience quiet surroundings that provide value for money.  In essence, our stay was great, which resulted in us extending the stay for one more day.  For sure, making another trip to Fort Windshire is inevitable.

The road to the hotel is currently under construction but easily commutable.
