Generally a good place to stay, and it has a cosy atmosphere. It has everything you need, as a hotel; and it has some nice communal relaxing areas as well. The staff is super friendly and helpfull. The breakfast is also really good, and they can even whip something up on order for breakfast (free of charge).

The curtains didn't really block the sunlight in the room, which made sleeping during the bright season a bit more difficult. I used some towels to stop some gaps, but a dedicated solution might help.

This is clearly a big success! Wonderful choices, delicious healthy smoothies, grains, and cheeses and very nicely presented! Bravo to the kitchen staff.

Some of the single suspended beds were too narrow ( 70-75cm max) in room N.1 and dangerous in our view these had no barriers. We had a mezzanine in our room and unfortunately the ceiling was too low and access quite dangerous too. It should be mentioned somewhere.

Everything. It's beautiful and we had a great Mountain View. We were allowed an early check in which was wonderful. The front desk staff were amazing and very helpful. Breakfast was awesome with cooked to order speciality egg dishes that were so delicious - and plenty of other options. Would very highly recommend.

Not so much a dislike, but there were very young kids running up and down and screaming constantly through the hallway directly in front of our room and front entrance for a few hours into the evening. It was mostly aggravating as it went on for quite a while in the presence of staff with no intervention. I believe the staff may have been hosting a family dinner. Maybe just be mindful of exhausted travelers still trying to adapt to jet leg and time change as it was very frustrating.

Location good, breakfast excellent choices. General maintenance and cleanliness was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. The hotel has a lovely genuine feel and adds to the overall experience of being on the island of Svalbard.

I was a solo traveller in a twin room and the size of the room seemed to be perfect for one person. I saw a single room and was happy that I had a twin for my stay of 4 nights.

Unique interior design. Staff very helpful.

Our first room was with bunk beds. They were narrow with no guard rail on top bunk. As I’m 76 I struggled with the top bunk as the space to ceiling was very low. I suggest if you’re over 60 make sure you get beds resting on floor. The following day we were moved without hesitation to a very nice room. This should not take from this property.

The breakfast was excellent. Wide variety, all freshly made. Really enjoyed the scrambled eggs with the homemade flatbread. Staff offered to make daily specials and very friendly. Great location to everything within walking distance. All staff provided great service and helped with any question.

The only area I would improve on is the size of the bed. The singles are fine, whereas the beds for couples are very cozy, although the rooms reflect the history of the area and are more defined as trapper rooms.

Everything was awesome. The team at Basecamp treated was so kindly we felt like at home after 1st moment. The chef turned me from a tost fan to a Eggs Benedict fan. I will miss every moment from the time we walked into the reception until our pick-up back to the airport. Thank you all for such a great experience.

There was nothing to dislike.

I was greeted with my name at the door and the staff were all so friendly, kind, and helpful. It felt like I was talking to friends whenever I needed help with anything. They arranged excursions for me which were lots of fun and I really recommend, especially the husky sledding. The room was extremely clean and comfortable and the style of the interior of the hotel is beautiful and unique. It had a lot of character. The breakfast was tasty with a variety of choices and the chef takes one’s allergies into account. There is free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in reception and it was nice to sit there with other guests and have a drink with locally produced alcohol. The location is along the main shopping street of Longyearbyen and the airport bus stops right outside. Absolutely lovely experience. I will certainly come again.

Wooden rustic features throughout. Room charming and unique. Beds solid and so comfortable! Central location in Longyearbyen giving easy access to shops, bars and restaurants, all a very short walk away. Environmental credentials which is very important to me. Breakfast was amazing.

Perfect location right in the center of town. Fun, rustic “Arctic explorer” style. Room is cozy and comfortable.

The staff is kind and I think wants to be helpful, but there seemed to be some sort to gap in communication. Expect to do all of your own activity planning, arrange your own transportation, etc
