The location means there is about 25 mins of extra walking compared to other more central options, but all tours offer pick-up and drop-off from the hotel so this is a non issue unless you explore on your own. The restaurant food is good, the rooms and bathrooms are clean. The staff is also very friendly.

Note that each cabin has a shared kitchen - some customers are not mindful of others and take up the entire shared kitchen or leave it dirty. We tried to avoid this issue by using the main common area to eat our food but we were not allowed unless we ordered food from there, so we had to eat in our room. This rule consider relaxing this rule as long as people clean up after themselves.

small but lovely room in a former miner's barrack - the toilets/showers were spotless clean - there was a common room and a kitchen where you could cook your meals and where there was a big fridge to store your foodstuff, well organized - the breakfast buffet in the morning was a blast! - very friendly and helpful staff - location is ideal for those who want to be closer to nature and a bit outside of the city, yet in walking distance to downtown - the fact that it is very quiet and air is very pure - the arctic reindeers grassing around the accommodation

Breakfast was very well presented and a reasonable selection all you needed. accomodation was basic but everything you needed was thier and good kitchen was busy but well worth included in accomodation as meals in town were expensive,dinning at coal miners was good tasty food,all in all a very nice place to stay and meet fellow travellers at a very good price. if you want more luxury stay in town and pay more. But id stay here anytime and spend the money saved on trips etc. In my opinion stay here and enjoy.

For us nothing for others depends on what you want.

The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. The hotel was always lovely and warm, with a lounge area in our cabin. Towels and a hairdryer were provided, which was great. About a 30-minute walk to the city centre with beautiful views. The staff couldn't help us enough and the cleaners were thorough. The showers had excellent pressure with red hot water. There is a good little functional kitchen downstairs with fridge, kettle, oven, stove and dish washer. The main building with reception and restaurant is warm and comfortable, with good food and drink options and a filling breakfast buffet.

An excellent place to stay and especially if you want to be away from the touristy area of town. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. Facilities were great. I never had to wait to use the shared bathrooms as there were enough for the number of rooms. Food was very good. There is a good choice for breakfast although there were no hot choices. About a 20 minute walk to main part of town but there are taxis.

Clean room and facilities. Also has a kitchen where you can keep labelled food in the fridge and have supplies while you're staying there. Same as a laundry. Staff were helpful and the breakfast was good (basic continental). Would recommend it.

Was far out of the main part of town, but the upside is you get to have a nice walk in an amazing place each time and keep your steps up. My initial room was next to the bathrooms because that's where the single rooms are, and it gets noisy. But I asked to be moved to another room and luckily staff had a quieter room available. No biggie though.

Great facilities and staff. Breakfast was very good with wide selection of good quality products. All spaces were very clean at all the times. Kitchen and common areas are large and well equipped. The hostel is about 30min walk from town but taxi is very easy to get and not too expensive. Very good value compared to any other accommodation in Longyearbyen.

Dinner menu (during winter time at least) is very limited and you have to book in advance (which we haven't thought was essential)

The views from the hotel are fabulous as you are up a valley and surrounded on 3 sides by mountains. The shared bathrooms were clean, big, had places for hanging clothes and were always available. A robe is included and it has pockets, so easier when going to the bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Free coffee is available all day. Each building has a lounge, and a kitchen. There is also a lounge, bar, and restaurant in the main building. Overall, a great value and a great place to stay if you are on a budget and want to save some money.

The internet connection sometimes wasn't working in my building, so I had to go to the main building. It is about a 30 min walk to the supermarket and the center of the town, but the view is nice. Also, the airport bus stops at the hotel and any tours pick you up and drop you off at the hotel. There are 2 free shuttle busses from the center of town to the hotel late in the afternoon and early evening.

Great staff, friendly and courteous; excellent choice of food at breakfast; really comfortable beds in spacious room (with basin). The position of the accommodation out of town is great; less light and buildings, and with wonderful hills around. We often saw Svalbard reindeer close to Cabins. It’s a half hour walk into town for the superb Svalbard Museum. Very much enjoyed their evening meals too. We had a wonder stay here.
