Room was small but cozy, beds comfortable. We had a large window and two connected single beds. Although there was not much space to walk around, we had everything we needed and shared showers offered a good stream of warm water after an exhausting day. Super friendly reception staff, easy check in. We did not choose breakfast but ate in nearby bakeries instead. Genuinely beautiful sunset from above the rocky walls just outside of the building. The hotel used to be a prison with some interesting historical facts features on the walls of the hall and room. Very much recommend!

Gorgeous location, really nice to stay in the fortress in general and sleeping in a prison is quite exceptional, we really enjoyed it. It is very quiet in the nights. It is walking distance to the lovely city centre. Staff was very helpful to offer us a place for our bicycles.

We liked it all, but just realize that if you book this, it is more like a youth hostel style stay then a hotel. Especially because the bathrooms are shared bathrooms. Also the opening hours for the reception is only later in the afternoon, if you arrive earlier then you cannot enter your room or leave your bags (as they do not share the codes during the day, only after closing of the reception).

The staff were very accomodating, friendly and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast spread was the best of our 5 week holiday with lots of different options (including GF and vegan). The view from our room was very nice, it was special being inside the fortress, which is one of the highlights of the town.

Because we were late in the season there weren't many others there which meant the office may be closed at particular times, however it all worked out for us in terms of timing. Best to check ahead if you are coming in the off- or shoulder-seasons.

The location and experiencing different accommodation as in a fort. Double room w/view was just big enough for two with a sink to do your morning/evening routines and access to water. Room nice, well maintained and quiet with an area/surroundings for good walks and just for a stroll around.

Towels - nice if you could have it changed - and if not on request. Pillow....well not very much supportive (too soft).

It's in a historic site and well kept, on the sea, and the rooms are simple but with comfortable beds, good ventilation and lighting. And spotlessly clean. There is great attention to detail, also in the breakfast rooms. There were basics, like some tea, salt, etc in the kitchen.

Very interesting property as an old prison in the old fort. Very comfartable bed. The breakfast was very good. Everything ecological and they had their own granola and their own blackberry jam. Good vegan options for those who are vegan.

When you stay in the cells, you hear everything outside the door. It should be quiet between 23-07 but some guests just cant be quiet. Maybe they could make the outside door more quiet when it closes. That would help a lot. I think its better in the other buildings.

Something different but still comfortable. Middle between hostel and hotel. Quirky prison rooms. As others have commented, 2 toilets and 2 showers for potentially over 20 guests is pushing it. Plenty common room space and good kitchen facilities, though. Wonderful location in Castle grounds and right next to bathing beach, sea pool and historic bathing spa. Great location for cycle tourists right on the Kattegatt Leden with cycle storage in a locked garage which, strangely enough, the owners don't seem to advertise.

Good budget alternative for a single traveler like me. Shared facilities were fine. Room was adequate for a night or two and I didn’t find it stuffy even though the window wasn’t reachable. The people I had contact with at the reception were helpful and polite.

In the grounds of an historic fortress ! Very well kept, great condition! Very central for exploring. Lovely airy rooms, shared toilet & showers - but really lovely ones ! Great breakfast Friendly & helpful.

By far the friendliest and most comfortable prison of the world! While we had the authentic experience of living in a medieval jail, the overall comfort of the romantic place truly surprised us. Great staff, fantastic breakfast!

Cannot really think of anything at all... The only thing that did not work out 100% was the weather;)
