Simple, clean, really cheap, big rooms, and convenient for where I needed to be. It's not a palace but for the price it's fine. I get annoyed when people choose a place that's dirt cheap and then complain in the reviews that it's old, or needs updating, or they didn't like this or that. Why do people expect luxury when the price is so cheap? You want luxury, go pay for it. The 13 Coins is fine for the price.

Good price, simple, cheap. Was very quiet on my visit. Don't expect luxury features but you're not paying for luxury either. A good budget hotel. Check you have hot water before retiring for the night - sometimes they haven't lit the gas in the boiler room.

Good price, good location for where we were going, and easy to get to from the MRT station (about a 7 minute walk). Big rooms. Breakfast included. Staff very friendly. No English is spoken - bring Google Translate!

The hotel's hot water had to be turned on when we asked for it but no big deal. All good.

The staff and the food were good. The room was ok for the price, and I already know that it is a old hotel. I think the two person who take care of this hotel are doing a great job.

The hotel was conveniently located for our personal need that night. The hotel looks to have once been quite grand and stylish, especially the foyer and restaurants / function rooms on the ground floor.

The hot water heater is broken so there is no hot water (cold showers) and the hotel just will not fix it. Their solution was to offer me an urn for boiling water for tea and coffee! The sheets have tears in them and are too small for the bed so they come out in the night and you end up sleeping on a dirty mattress, the room was full of mosquitos, the aircon doesn't work in some rooms, and some mattresses have springs poking up making sleep very uncomfortable. Getting into bed I noticed our feet were filthy from just walking around the room. Broken tiles in the room and the bathroom. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Convenient location, not too expensive

I've stayed in this hotel four times now. It's not a palace but it's cheap and all I need. But this time it had gone downhill fast. The room''s aircon didn't work, the sheets didn't fit the bed so kept coming out, and pillows felt like concrete. The room was at the end of the corridor and out of range of the wifi signal, so no internet unless I walked down the corridor and sat on the floor. Termites had eaten a lot of the timber in the corridor. But the worst thing was that there was no hot water. The receptionist said that it was "broken" so we had to have cold showers. NOT impressed. Looking at the overall condition of the place I just don't think it's worth repairing. It looks like it ought to be condemned and pulled down I've finally decided that I won't be staying there again.

Everything except the location! I'm sure it was a wonderful, luxurious hotel 30 years ago, but it's not been maintained at all! The elevator is broken! The stairs are full of spider webs and dead insects! The glass has never been wiped! The whole floor is full of garbage! It's like a haunted house! On the contrary, even if I was paid, I would never stay again! The problem is that there are no competing hotels nearby! I want a new hotel to be built soon!
