While our room was very small, it was still clean and nicely furnished, with amazing views of the sea. The staff were fantastic, really friendly, welcoming, engaging and helpful. We ate at the hotel both nights and the food was fantastic. The location is amazing, overlooking the beautiful beach, with stunning sunsets. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you again to all the staff, particularly the young lad (sorry, I didn't catch his name) who was there on his own the first night and did an amazing job of checking in, manning the bar and serving food - he worked amazingly hard!

Amazing location Great facilities. Kindly allowed us to leave car whilst we cycled south for a tour of eriskay, barra and vatersay. Staff were very nice and helpful. Thanks a lot!!

Our only gripe was the breakfast, definitely an area for improvement. Seemed to be understaffed , did not see the waiter until 10 mins after sitting down. No table menus but upon helping ourselves to continental buffet we found a menu for hot food. We were eventually served tea and coffee after a fair wait. It was so understaffed that the waiter could then not be found and appeared to be busy in kitchen or reception … unsure exactly. A good point was that we ended up in a rush for a ferry due to slow service and the waiter kindly offered quicker hot rolls. Food wasn’t anything to write home about but did the job. Absolutely not worth 15 pounds.

Bed was extremely comfortable! Had 2 excellent night's sleep. Location is beautiful. Great choice of seating areas. One member of staff (Tyler) went above and beyond helping with any queries we had and we felt he was very efficient in everything he did. Breakfast was excellently cooked - especially the mushrooms! Although the 2nd day breakfast I was given bacon and pork sausage instead of the vegan sausage. (I don't eat meat).

Staffing issues made second day a bit disorganised e.g dining in bar rather than restaurant. Some communication niggles which was rather annoying. Also, our room wasn't serviced between nights stayed I.e. no towels changed and no tea/coffee tray refills.

The room was warm, welcoming and cosy. The Harris tweed was in keeping and the shower was fabulous. We had a fantastic sea view which was mesmerising and the bed was extremely comfortable. We understand a refurbishment is due to start next week or so, we hope the character remains. Breakfast was served in a slow but timely manner and was a full Scottish breakfast and was great.

The only let down as far as we were concerned was that the online advertised menu that drew us there was not available due to the forthcoming refurbishment plans. That is not to say that the food we eat wasn't good because it was superb, just not what we expected. We would have liked the lobster but had venison based meals instead.

The Inn is in a beautiful location and David and Leeanne are very welcoming and hands-on hosts. My room was compact but comfortable and well appointed. There was a minor unrepairable complication with the room that had arisen just prior to my arrival and David was extremely apologetic plus he conferred generous compensation. I have to also mention Maria in the bar who was informative and engaging.

Most disappointing was the brevity of my stay. I would love to have had a few nights plus I was unable to sample the full extent of (what would have been an excellent) breakfast due to a very early departure. Also, if the weather had been kinder I would have enjoyed my refreshments outside while admiring the views.

The location was stunning. The hotel was quite quaint but comfortable. The manager was very helpful and friendly. The hotel was dog friendly and our dog was allowed in the bar. The food was exceptional - dinner was excellent. Breakfast was included in the overnight price and was cooked to order. It was delicious. The bedrooms had Harris Tweed accessories.

Our room was quite small and a bit dated. The shower cabinet could have done with being updated.

Polochar Inn is on the southern tip of South Uist the view from the property is stunning. 360deg with Eriskay to the east, Barra across the sound to the south and North America just out of view across the horizon. 😎 The food was excellent in the morning for breakfast served in the panoramic restaurant with these fantastic views.😋😎 The staff were great, chatty and quick to fix up our room which had been set as a twin instead of a double. I would highly recommend this hotel to stay in or even just to go for a drink as the sun goes down with the waves lapping the rocks right in front of the entrances, there can't be many places with this kind of views😎👍👍👍

Our late arrival 🫣🤔 due to calmac ferry being 4 hours late.

Christina checked me in late at night. She was very friendly and efficient. The gentleman at breakfast was very helpful and interesting.

I found the front door very stiff and at first thought it was locked. There was also no lighting at the front door which would have been helpful as I wasn't familiar with the hotel or entrance.

Beautiful location right on the water with sea views. Very sweet and kind staff who went above and beyond for us!

Thought we'd have 2 beds but ended up with 1 bed and a pull-out sofa bed. Room was very warm, but staff lent us their own personal fan to use due to my husband's medical condition.

Absolutely amazing location overlooking the sea. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. They've only just taken over so we wish them every success with their new adventure but obviously very experienced in running pubs in the UK.

Room was not enormous but not particularly a problem - it's a traditional building. A shame that some motorhomes turned up and parked outside to spoil the view of the amazing sunset!
