Great location for the pier and restaurants. Nice bar downstairs. Free towels & beach chairs for the beach. Towels at the pool & sunscreen . Lovely staff.
Don’t know why they didn’t build rooms looking directly at the beach- maybe too noisy? The pool is fab, should be on the roof instead of the side but I suppose that’s the architects fault lol

The location was perfect. It’s right across the street from the pier and walking distance to many restaurants, shops and even the farmers market on the weekend. All of the staff were amazing. Friendly and very helpful.
The room was very nice but a little on the smaller side. We did pay extra for an ocean view room. We have never stayed there before so I didn’t realize that because of the annual of the hotel sits there was a view of the ocean but it was farther away. It was a direct view of the ocean. Our direct view was of the streets and the alley across the street with ocean in the background.

The location of Pierside is unbeatable for enjoying the beach as well as the urban aspects of LA as a family. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, comfortable, superbly maintained. Staff are welcoming and helpful. Body boards/bikes available for free. A very cheerful and relaxed atmosphere for our 5 night stay.
Two issues - if there for more than a night or two (as we were), not having a substantial set price breakfast is an issue. The food in the restaurant, including breakfast options, is excellent, but too expensive (for us anyway...) as more than a treat. The staff are very helpful and friendly, but too few and appear inadequately trained/managed.

The hotel location is fantastic, just by the Ocean Dr and the beach. The rooms were very spacious and well decorated. The hotel provides towels, umbrellas and chairs for the beach which was wonderful. A highlight for us was the hotel restaurant The Surfing Fox, we loved each time we ate there from the breakfast to dinner/snack, the food and drinks were delicious and the staff very attentive and friendly.
The only downside of the hotel room for us was the bathroom, extremely small for the size of the room, not enough counter space, and the toilet pretty much on top of the shower.

The location was convenient, right near the pier, just up from the train and across the street from the shops and pedestrian mall. The room was comfortable. Great bed and shower. All staff were nice.
It was extremely expensive - the most expensive place we stayed in our 6 week trip to the US. We don’t drink coffee only tea snd we were challenged trying to boil water in the coffee maker/ a kettle would have been better. There was no iron only a steamer which was very ineffective in getting creases out if clothes. One of the reasons I booked the hotel was because it had a laundry but when we got there the laundry was not available. The aircon was very loud and we had to keep turning it off. Also there was a lot if street noise, especially on the first night.

- perfect location, right next to Santa Monica Pier and walkable to many restaurants - clean and spacious room, comfortable bed - nice toiletries, light but powerful hair dryer (sorry i have thick hair), quality robe - they have water machines which is very convenient - plastic-free: they provide reusable water bottle for you to refill water
- valet parking was waaaaaaaaaaaay too expensive, they charge $60 per night but for safety's sake we dare not to park elsewhere - no facility available except your room and valet parking...no restaurant/gym/pool whatsoever, the hotel is under renovation. Thus the expensive resort fee makes no sense at all. - front desk staff was absent when we check out in the early morning...valet parking staff told us to put leave the room keys on the table. I felt quite unsecured about the arrangement. - this is not about the hotel but there are homeless around the area, so, beware when you are out after sunset.

Location is great, price is reasonable and staff is amazing. My son lost his AirPod as we were leaving the room one day and the housekeepers found it while we were out, made his day!

I must admit that there is not much choice for breakfast. The hotel's location in Santa Monica is excellent—just a short walk from the beach. The property is exceptionally clean, with thoughtfully selected in-room amenities. Cleanliness is clearly a top priority, and the staff are attentive, courteous, and always ready to help.
This isn’t a criticism of the hotel itself—rather, it reflects a broader issue I’ve noticed in the U.S. hospitality industry. Many properties seem to have moved away from traditional buffets for cost reasons, but breakfast remains a core part of the accommodation experience and is especially expected by European tourists. While this isn’t the hotel’s fault, it does highlight a gap in the U.S. system (I’ve seen the same in New York).

The location of this hotel is incredible! It is even closer to the pier/beach than I thought looking online. Great home base for exploring the beaches, city, farmers market, etc. and there are plenty of public parking garages nearby if you have a car and opt not to use the Valet. They room was nice and spacious they added some cute touches like postcards and a complementary water bottle.
We didn’t have time to use the pool but it looked cute (although it does back up to the highway so there was some highway noise) - wish it had been open a bit later so we could have used it after our day exploring.

Restaurant is now under renovation, so it is not available. Across the street, there is a McDonald's which opens early in the morning. There are many homeless people around that. Gym is also under renovation. Pool - the same.
