It's cheap and cheerful in the desert: if you're looking for somewhere to stay to get to Death Valley but don't want to pay the premium that comes with staying in relative comfort in the middle of one of the most desolate places on the planet, then this is a great option. The guy who runs the place is genuinely interested in making sure you're happy and the rooms are functional and comfortable. It's a couple of hours drive to the middle of Death Valley but there's few more stunning drives that you'll ever make, albeit there's a fairly depressing town that time has left behind shortly into your journey. Ridgecrest itself has a surprising amount of amenities for its location so you won't go hungry and the gasoline was as cheap as we found in California.

America Inn and suites is a traditional motel and that is exactly what I like about it. The rooms are comfortable in a traditional style. Comfy bed, warm shower, fridge and microwave and a nice sofa for a comfortable stay after a long drive. At breakfast your host will surprise you with a perfect baked egg. Just ask if you want extra’s.

Not really a comment on the hotel itself, but i did miss being able to dip in a pool.

The greeter, so friendly. He made you feel welcomed and just uplifting. Handed me 2 cold bottles of water, and told me about the morning breakfast and coffee. The office smelled fresh, same as the room. Room was spotless, very clean.

I was downstairs, I could literally hear the guy in the next room coughing. So, the rooms have little noise barrier, except for the outside noise, couldn't hardly hear it at all..

Comfortable bed, large room, friendly hotel manager, breakfast. We felt so lucky; manager Shams popped out when we were at breakfast and asked if we'd like fresh omelettes. Best motel breakfast ever. Thank you Shams for your hospitality.

There wasn't soap in the room but there was conditioning shampoo that we used instead for soap. We were too tired at night when we arrived to ask about it and the conditioning shampoo worked out 👍.

Great value - very clean and safe place to stay on your way in or out of the Death Valley. The motel is really taken care of and kept clean and tidy, even though the property is quite old itself. It’s a family run business with very helpful owner. Simple breakfast snacks and coffee provided for free were a great plus when we departed very early in the morning.

Economical. Room 201, 2nd floor, has a front door access via the upstairs patio area with a south eastern exposure. There were patio chairs one can use to relax in the sun. Friendly and Helpful Staff!

Room 201, Stair only access to 2nd floor (older upgraded hotel building)...so a lot of baggage may take a few trips to the room.

Easy location for the ice machine. Spacious rooms.

Early morning noise. I think some of it was from the maid because I could hear the cart going up and down the sidewalk. Some of it was from workers I think in the adjacent rooms. I'll have to ask for a room far away next time.

Continental breakfast which was adequate for 80 year olds. Room felt safe and nice.

Stairs up to our room. My wife was having hip issues so the stairs were no fun for her.

The staff was very friendly and prepared for us a very tasty breakfast.

Staff were amazing. Bed comfy and facilities clean

The a/c was satisfactory but could've been a little cooler (there's a heatwave)
