I really liked that the property felt like a home away from home with all of the comforts and amenities you would need being taken care of. The little things made the biggest difference for me such as having filtered water available and being able to wake up and make a cup of good coffee. The location is also as best as you can get literally being right on Venice beach. I also liked that the staff were super helpful and always around if needed. I stayed in surrounding 4* hotels for the first few days of my trip and open Venice was significantly nicer than all of the hotels I stayed at in the surrounding area. I also really liked that it was a guest only policy, this made me feel very safe knowing no random people will be entering the building.

Great location- right on Venice Beach boardwalk. On the first day there, I walked to Muscle beach, saw the Venice sign and Venice Canals, then cycled to Santa Monica Pier. The people there were super nice and helpful - both the people working and staying there. Everyone was very tidy and respectful and nice to hang out with.

Nothing. The property was perfect and felt very safe. Some homeless people on the boardwalk late at night, but I personally didn't feel unsafe at any time.

Dave was incredibly welcoming as soon as I arrived- the ambiance of the place is basically unmatchable! Calming, quiet music, bright and airy common spaces, generously sized pods with the most comfy bedding I've ever slept on (legit) and plenty of tea and coffee options available for guests. There's shampoo and conditioner in the showers which is handy, and even low lighting inside the pods (as well as bright) if you want to read before bed. You're about 2 seconds from Venice boardwalk and plenty of bars and cafes within reach. If you don't want to splash out for a hotel, definitely check this place out. Regardless, the atmosphere is way cooler than any hotel would be, anyway! Its the perfect blend of personal space and social, so you can choose to network or keep to yourself as you wish.

Fantastic amenities, decent location right by the beach and very clean. The view from the roof and the front room was insane, just so lovely seeing the beach on your door step. Having bikes available and laundry facilities was super handy. It definitely felt like a home away from home and the people I met there really did make the stay much nicer considering I was solo travelling.

Sadly the location had a lot of homeless people and odd individuals on the beach which made it feel a little unsafe to be out around Venice beach at night. Also it would've been nice if the bike seats were adjustable.

This place ist amazing. I’ve never been to a place like this before. As there’s only 10 pods and the house is quite big it’s never too crowded and one’s privacy is being respected. The atmosphere is professional but still laid back and if you feel like it it’s easy to connect with other guests. The pods are very comfortable. All the facilities are well taken care of and of good quality. The staff is very welcoming. Would definitely come back.

There wasn’t anything really. The entrance door was difficult to open and needed maintenance but I heard they’re already working on that issue.

I’ve been in 30+ hostels all over the US during the last years and this one definitely takes the crown! The sleeping pods have everything you could ever need and even more. The house just has a wonderful, open vibe to it and everyone is so welcoming and helpful. It’s also the first hostel I’ve been to, that really looks like in the pictures (even better, the view from the rooftop is incredible). There’s so much space for everyone and the pods, bathrooms, etc are clean and well cared for. The price may seem high at first, but it’s absolutely worth it (They also provide free coffee+water, laundry and bath utilities). Can’t wait to stay here again!

I had a truly exceptional time at Stay Open. The location was perfect, the space was clean and welcoming, and the people were kind. David, our host, was a great dude. He was knowledgeable about the area and gave us some great recommendations, not to mention some great laughs. I would 100% stay here again and recommend it to anyone I know.

Honestly I can't think of one thing about this experience that I didn't like.

Great location and beautiful interior

3pm check in. Why does it take 4hrs to turn around a bed?! There are only 10 beds so probably only a couple people checking out each day and there are two staff and a cleaner. Unwillingness to look after my hand luggage post 11am check in for a few hours prior to a flight. This is the first time I have ever encountered such a situation (I am 45 and lucky enough to have travelled widely and stayed in a fair few hotels!) Churlish at best, they wanted to charge me $30 for a day pass! At absolutely zero inconvenience to the staff they could have made my plane catch that little bit easier.

I liked everything about this accommodation. Staff members were super friendly (David and Olga), helpful and responding to questions immediately before my check in :) The building is one big shared open space but still I felt I had my privacy when I needed. Common areas are very clean, beds are super comfortable. I higly recommend for single female travellers as it is super safe. Also, there is coworking space and a booth to take calls if needed. When I happen to be at Venice Beach, I'll book this again!

Perfect location, it has a beautiful beach view. Beds were quite comfy and clean, but the ventilator in the pods was a bit noisy so earplugs are recommended (as expected). The kitchen/living room/bathrooms were clean, and you could always take new towels. There was a variety of coffee/tea selections in the kitchen which was great. Also there are cool bikes you can take for the beach ride which I recommend!

The ventilator in the pods was like a white noise, but as expected you should be using earplugs - so I didn't hear a thing.
