Excellent hostel. Room and bathroom are cleaned daily. The matress is confortable, with a huge duvet and a good light for reading. The staff is really nice and helpfull, even i some of them didn't speak a lot of english, they helped me and we could understand each other. Location is quiet, in walkable distance to center, museum, and some nice cafés in the neighbourhood.

Small points for improvement: - implement a full no-shoe policy inside the room (i.e. leave the shoes outside) - some hangers/shelfs in the room and in the boot for hanging clothes, towel, or putting glasses, cell phone

The staff were the friendliest I have met. They gave me great recommendations and had a google map to share with you. I was communicating with them ahead of time to organise a bus to Mu cang chai for the following day. Good location. There is an elevator in the building. Has a water dispenser. Has a light and plugs by the bed. Mattress is the usual vietnamese hardness.

There wasn't a lot of room to put your luggage. Lucky there was only 2 people in the dorm. The locker is small and only fits my day pack so my luggage was at the foot of my bed which was almost yhe middle of the room. Would hate to see what it is like when the room was full. I think the AC has times when it turns off. I would wake up in the morning and it would be hot, maybe it turns off about 7.00/8.00am and on about that time in the evening. There were two beach chairs in the room, but not really anywhere even in reception to sit.

The owner, Greg, offers tours and treks around Dien Bien Phu. Since I was on my own he managed to quickly organise a half historical/trekking tour for me. I went away for 2 days and had an unforgettable time there, I really wish I could have stayed longer. There are also free bikes to ride around the city center and the rice fields in the south. I 100% recommend booking their hostel and their tour, it is super authentic and you can really see what DBP has to offer. Definitely one of the highlights of my 3 month trip through Vietnam :)

Very helpful and friendly staff. Free water refill and bicycles. Neat and tidy. Aircon OK. Terrace where to dry clothes. Bunk beds with curtains. Few guests. Elevator for reaching the dorm at the 5th floor. Cheap street buffets in a walking distance from the hostel: walk towards the big bridge on the main road south of the hostel, crossed the bridge keep going straight and take the last one on the right before the big roundabout.

Dorm has no window to the outside, but to the common corridor.

Located in a lovely side street near the city centre with good neighbourhood restaurants nearby. Staff are very cheerful, friendly and helpful. Ticket booking and travel advice. Excellent WiFi. Excellent value for money.

The double room was fine for me but would be quite small for 2 people. The shower wasn't very warm. The room was a bit dusty and the bathroom shelves needed a wipe.

Where to begin?! Staying at the Frontier Hostel should be a no brainer for anyone stopping in Dien Bien. The hostel is fantastic, comfortable and clean- but it’s the people that make the place! Greg and Són, and the whole team make this a special place to spend some time. We also ended up doing a tour which was phenomenal from start to finish. All I can say is that if Dien Bien ever crosses your mind as a place to go- Frontier hostel can be chosen eyes closed as it is a gem!

Great staff, clean rooms and amazing value for money. We arrived during Tet and they kept us informed on bus schedules and availability even before our arrival, and they organised our onward travel to Sapa which picked us up right from the hostel. Dien Bien Phu is a very interesting city and this hostel is perfectly located to see all the main sights on a quick stopover going to/from Laos. Quite possibly the hottest and most powerful shower we experienced during our SE Asia trip 😄

Great owner who goes out of his way to make sure guests are happy and well informed about what there is to do in the underrated town of Dien Bien Phu. Very friendly and helpful English-speaking staff too. Right next to several eateries and close to most of the immediate sights. Scooters for rent in house. I ended up staying for three nights before crossing the border to Laos, which is what most people come here for.

Excellent stay. Clean, comfortable. Very good location: near all the main sites. A number of good and inexpensive local restaurants around. Nice, leafy neighbourhood. And the staff is wonderful: very helpful, smiley, making sure you have a nice stay. Highly recommended. As for Dien Bien Phu: good city, well worth visiting. People are lovely.

Nothing. Everything was great.

I booked initially only 5 nights, but because of their hospitality I extended 2 more nights. The location is close to bus stations offering most itineraries of the western north. And I can walk to the Dien-bien-phu commercial airport. The new bridge has been being built cross the Nậm-rốm river, that will provide the very short walk passage to town. The management, particularly Greg, Hai, Tuan and their team went out of the way to make my stay as at home. I really appreciated their hospitality. Beside running the hostel, Frontier Hostel & Tours is also providing tour services to anyone interesting in discovery the lives, cultures, landscapes of Dien-bien-phu and the the surrounding countryside.
