The accommodation was comfortable and a very short walk to the pub. When we arrived the beer garden was in full swing with ANZAC Day festivities. It had great atmosphere. We had dinner and lunch at the pub and the food was delicious, the beer cold and the staff were wonderful. The Australian Hotel is a short walk to the rest of St George and across the road from the Balonne River. St George has done a great job with the walkway along the river with the landscaping and information boards. The town was bustling with travelers and we enjoyed a nice morning tea at one of the cafes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Australian hotel in St George in Queensland.

I have stayed in some budget accommodation before and was very disappointed, I have also stayed in pub accommodation many times but the Australian hotel far exceeded my expectations. Very clean with fresh crispy white linen. Clean bathroom ( shared bathroom/toilet as is typical of hotel accommodation) very friendly staff and although I didn’t go to the restaurant and opted for a pizza at the bar, it tasted good and was huge enough to feed a family of four. I shared mine with some of the patrons at the bar. All in all, a great place to stay for a night or more while you soak up the Queensland outback hospitality.

Cheap and cheerful. My room was really cold overnight, there was no remote for the aircon and I couldn't figure out how to turn it onto heat, but this detail wouldn't deter me from staying again. Only mentioning it as feedback to the team. I had a great night at the hotel, food was great, staff were friendly. 😊

The locations was good, in town close to pretty much everything. The room was large and comfortable and very clean. The bed/s were comfortable too. Great large shower that was clean with awesome water pressure. Really hard to fault. The motel rooms are in the rear of the Hotel and even though the refrigeration unit for the drive-thru bottle shop was running most of the night it wasn't too intrusive. Pub food was really good quality and value.

Not much to not like. Maybe the refrigeration unit noise? But I found it ok and I had no issues with sleeping. I didnt use the Air conditioning unit so I can't comment on its functionality.

That there was no microwave so wasn't able to cook dinner in the room that we brought to save money since it is very costly as a single mum family to buy dinner out.

This hotel has a great view of the river from the balcony outside the bedroom. Facing west for the sunsets.Large bistro, outdoor area and bar serving up a wide range of meals, which were large and reasonably priced. Good common kitchen area with large fridge. Very helpful staff.

The fire pit downstairs was very smoky and seemed to waft around and through the whole hotel.😬😷

Staff were friendly, genuine and pleasant. I arrived late in the night and it was not a problem for staff, the checked me in and got me into a room with no hassles. Room was very clean and fresh.
