St. Francis was exactly what we envisioned. Laid back, Bahama paced with all amenities required for an extremely lovely vacation. Instead of a hotel room we decided to book one of six stationary houseboats. While simple, the design included a living room area, kitchenette with a full refrigerator, bathroom with shower and a queenside bed. Along with an waterfront facing front “porch” the accommodation was more than adequate for two people. All meals were served at their “Snappy Turtle” hillside restaurant where the slower pace forced you relax. Take a breath and chill. We especially relished the grilled lobster, coconut shrimp and fish of the day complimented by fresh vegetables and Bahamian vegetable rice. However, the beautiful, dazzling blue waters were the reason we were drawn to Exuma. A boat was always available to take you to any of the many beaches. A weather permitting three hour boat tour allowed us to decide which of the many Stocking Island locations we could spend a day swimming, snorkeling or just enjoy relaxing with a drink on the soft sand. We were lucky enough during our tour to travel south to one of the many sandbanks where tide changes the landscape quickly. Our guides were knowledgeable and showed us starfish, sea fans and conch that could be covered by feet of water or exposed to the sun depending on the tide. All in all from the greeting on our arrival to the last day of our stay the staff were truly amazing and willing to do anything they could to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Only that we had to leave.

The location can’t be beat - waking up to the crashing Ocean waves - turquoise water and pristine white sand - feeling like we have the beach to ourselves.. on the other side the marina and easy access to kayaks to explore creeks, a snorkeling hole and a beach with sting rays. Marie with guest services helped us find the perfect full day tour replete with sharks, iguanas, snorkeling and a gorgeous sand bank, and set us up with a rental car for a day on the mainland to explore little Exuma and the Tropic of Cancer beach. All meals were delicious and fresh - lobster, snapper, mahi mahi, and plenty of great options for kids too and fresh fruit and vegetables. It was amazing!!

The bed was a teeny bit soft/ small for my very tall husband.

It was a beautiful, peaceful little getaway. My room was a mini houseboat, which was awesome. You can explore the island, lounge around in the water or kayak. Chat n Chill is a short kayak away and has sting rays waiting to be fed in the beautiful water. It was a lovely trip!

Be prepared that everything closes early lol. The grocery/liquor stores are on the mainland and you should stock up upon arrival (also pricey $$$). I wouldn't call this spot a party/late night environment. Staying on the house boat was great because after dinner and such- just sitting around the deck felt like "doing something". Also the island has some kind of rooster that cuckoos around 4 AM then again around 5. It was hilarious!

Great location. Easy to get around to all parts of the island, beaches and things to do via boat service offered. Staff are amazing! Food was delicious and great value. Perfect place to unwind and connect with nature and the beauty of the Exumas.

This is a lovely simple island resort. If you want nightlife and TV this isn’t the place for you. Bring a book , enjoy meeting other residents and get lots of R&R.

Loved the houseboats (although bed was small), surroundings, kayaking to Chat ‘N Chill and the Coconut Club, daytrip was beautiful, staff was very welcoming

Appreciate that all the food must be shipped, but the quality compared to the prices of the food and drinks at the restaurant was out of proportion (would expect much better quality). Could be bumpy on the housebout (but still loved it, as said above)

Fabulous experience at The St. Francis Resort! The staff was exceptional and super accommodating to all of our needs. The location was unreal! Stocking Island is a "sliver" island so the resort's location lets you go out your front door to walk to the ocean side (a stone's throw away) to see the sunrise or your back door (quick trek down a short path) to the "other" side for sunset. The food was outstanding with fresh fish on the menu every night. If you're looking for a non-touristy type place, The St. Francis is it! I would highly recommend.

Honestly, everything was great. Any concerns we had were addressed promptly. The water taxi to the "mainland" worked seamlessly. The resort had a super chill vibe, which was exactly what we were looking for.

All meals were very good. We tried quite a variety and none disappointed. The view from our room was exceptional. The beautiful beach is steps from your room. The entire staff is amazing and always available to assist. Everyone we encountered was so helpful and made us feel right at home❤️ I explored the Island a lot and found so many hidden treasures .. so much to see!! St. Francis offers, pure beauty in a simple rustic, completely laid-back vibe. This is exactly what we were looking for. I will be back.

It would be nice if there were more beach recliners and umbrellas on the ocean side but I completely understand why not, as the current comes in quite far at high tide. We came prepared with sand towels to bring anywhere we went.

The room porch overlooking the ocean! It is an especially beautiful location. Lovely staff; particularly Bri, Mari, Arista, and Julia.

Not a fault of the property, but the biting insects after sunset are voracious. Bring insect repellent!

Excellent and extremely helpful staff. Quiet and peaceful setting and reliable water taxi services into Georgetown.

Dinner menu doubles in price for most of the same food served at lunch. It's impossible to do laundry.

Continental included breakfast lacked variety and quantity. When you’re paying so much for the accommodations, you expect more than toast and coffee. We eventually got some fruit in a dish but had to request and wait for it.
