The staff were wonderful, the location, while a little further from Chobe, was quiet and relaxing. The lodge provided really good value for money and the staff go beyond to ensure a great stay. The game rangers, particularly John, were extremely knowledgable and ensured fantastic game drives and river cruises. We all thoroughly enjoyed it!

The only negative, and it's not really a negative, is that with children it would have been more convenient to have a restaurant with a wider food selection. I do understand that given the smaller nature of the lodge this might prove challenging. But the Lodge did understand this and offered to order in food from nearby restaurants that offer delivery services, which I thought was very thoughtful.

We stayed for 2 nights in a Deluxe Double Chalet with its own private deck and a view of the Chobe River. The room was large with a small table, 2 comfortable chairs, a desk, comfortable bed, etc. Breakfast and a small lunch were included with the room. Dinner was extra and must be booked ahead of time. The food was very good. The location is not central to Kasane and requires transport to town if you want to shop or dine elsewhere. The lodge will book activities in the area. The lodge booked a reasonably priced transfer for us to Victoria Falls. We thought the price of the room was a little high, but may reflect the higher pricing in Botswana.

The room was perfect, but we found that the staff was not as attentive and friendly as in other lodges where we have stayed.

We stayed 3 nights at the River View Lodge. Sofia and her team run the lodge with lot of love and commitment, we always got tips and help for our questions. The guides for the game drives and the boat cruise are doing a great job as well, we enjoyed it so much. We went each day on the boat cruise, there is always to see something different and the sunset is just amazing at the Chobe river. We loved it to stay at the lodge and can recommend it 100%. The organized transfer to and back from the Victoria Falls worked very well, the driver helps with the paper work at the border, we were dropped of at the hotel in Vicfalls, we stayed there for one night. Meanwhile we could leave safely our rental at the lodge.

AMAZING! We absolutely loved our stay. The staff were lovely and friendly. The boat cruises were fantastic! The breakfast, lunch & dinner were exceptional. We will be coming back all the way from Australia just to come to this place !!! Super clean spacious rooms with AC. A bar by the pool. What more could you want ?!! Thankyou everyone.

We couldn't have wanted anything more. The staff were exceptional, the upgrade to the whole home was spectacular, the food was varied and always hot and delicious,the grounds were lovely and it was all on a great location along the Chobe River. We would highly recommend this lodge to anyone interested in relaxation and nature. Our guide, John, for the boat cruise and the safaris was outstanding in his knowledge of the birds, animals in the area and the landscape. One of the servers, Monte, went out of her way to make our first evening meal there a wonderful one to remember with candlelight in a special setting.

The electrical system in the home was a bit tricky.

We wanted to spend 5 nights in Kasane but at the time of booking, couldn't find a vacancy with 5 consecutive nights at our preferred destination - a much bigger resort right on the edge of the Chobe National Park. So we booked 2 at River View. As it turned out, this was a very friendly little oasis of calm simplicity which couldn't have done much more to suit our needs. Although the lodges looked a bit like Granny Flats from the outside, they were comfortably set out in 'Safari' style inside with good air-con and screening from insects. The pool area was small but perfectly adequate for the size of the place and number of people staying. Dinner was served at a set time of 7.30 and had a carnivore and veggie option and was perfectly acceptable. Drinks were very reasonably priced. Obviously, the object of the stay was the game viewing. This was the strength of River View - in their guide, Mathews, who has a brilliant instinct for the animals movements and for the mood, and requirements of the passengers he is carrying, and extending the '3' hour drive to over 4. So much did we appreciate him that we booked one of our following early morning trips with him, rather than the other lodge, whose drivers seemed more formulaic and ready to head back as soon as they could. The images on the website represent the place very accurately. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for - and I think in this case - a bit more. The cost here was considerably less than where we stayed next. Granted, that was very plush and beautifully set out, with exceptional rooms - and a great location. But, it lacked the intimate simplicity we felt at River View. And, it doesn't make any difference how much you pay for your bed - you still see the same animals in the Park!

The only down side of River View is it's additional distance from the park. Although this isn't such an issue with the game drives (an extra 10 mins drive each way), the river cruise involves that additional drive, plus a bit, to the remote berthing site for the lodge - some of the other closer lodges being able to start direct from their own river jetties. The timber decking round the pool was nearing it's replacement date - but it's understood that not everything can be brand new all the time.

Wonderful hotel with a nice garden and pool area. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Staff are amazing, very helpful and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Especially Mossie at reception assisted us with everything we needed (booking an extra night, booking activities etc.). Also John who does the game drives and boat tours was great. The food at the restaurant was very good and we really liked the concept where all the guests eat together at long tables in the evening.

If we would have to name anything, it would be that the rooms do not have a fridge

Fantastic and helpful staff, great breakfast and very good and comfortable rooms. The location, near the river is very beautiful but far from Chobe NP (20min) however the guides make earlier departures for the game drives or boat safaris in order to arrive to Chobe at the same time as the other lodges located near Chobe, so it was not a problem for us. The guides from the lodge are very respectful of the wildlife rules for nature preservation in Chobe NP, regarding animal distance to the vehicle, environment protection and number of vehicles, etc. That didn't impact at all, the good animal findings and photos during the safaris. Even if we didn't approach the animals, the animals would came very near the jeep! well done!

The game drives can be done with a typical jeep or the TRUCK which can transport more people (>12 people). Personally, I didn't like to make the game drives with the truck. It's very noisy, which may impact wildlife, you are in very high position regarding the animals (when compared to the jeep) which doesn't enhance the safari photography and the truck cannot make the straighter routes in Chobe, (according to the guide) as the other jeeps, even if we never experienced that as an issue.

Breakfast was very nice. Variety good. Thank you for the gluten free foods. Even the fresh fruits were such a special treat

I would like to make two suggestions. Firstly it would be nice to have more options in terms of dinner regarding the protein. I think you have a magnificent chef , but the choices for dinner is very limited. Secondly your bar is so busy , especially when its so hot. A basic wisky is Jameson. Please have it on your list. Teach the barman to make a River View Sunset ( a tequila sunrise ). With a little initiative and a bit wider range you can push your turnover at the bar.

Amazing welcome from Sofia and her team. The activities led by Matthew and John were fantastic, almost having the feeling of private safaris on the 3 we did, due to the intimate nature of the groupings. Their river safari boat is spacious and modern, whilst their game drive vehicles are some of the best we've been on. Excellent pool area, complimentary safari lunch and modern, clean accommodation make it the best value choice we could have found in the Chobe area without compromising on quality. Lovely riverside setting tops it off. Can't recommend River View Lodge enough.
