If paradise had a postal code, it would be Vipilodge. From the moment we arrived, we were wrapped in the warm hospitality of Ingo (the owner with a heart of gold) and his delightful mom Maria (who might secretly be Nova Scotia’s national treasure). The facilities? Spotless. Comfy. So clean you could eat off the floor—but don’t, because the food is better at the table. Now, let’s talk about the WiFi—or rather, the glorious absence of it. Cue the initial panic: phones clutched, thumbs twitching, the desperate search for a signal like we were on a scavenger hunt for sanity. But then… silence. Sweet, soul-soothing silence. No notifications. No doomscrolling. Just the sound of birds, waves, and our own thoughts (which, surprisingly, weren’t that scary). By day two, we were fully converted. Vipilodge isn’t just a place—it’s a digital detox disguised as a dream vacation. We read books. We talked to each other. We even remembered what clouds look like. Honestly, it was magical. If you're looking for a place to reset your brain, reconnect with nature, and meet people who treat you like family, this is it. Just don’t expect WiFi—and trust me, that’s a feature, not a bug.
There is nothing i didn't like - it was perfect

If you are looking for peace, look no further! When is the last time you heard....nothing? No phone notifications, no traffic, no sirens....just the occasional squirrel or bird. Rich, dense forest opening up to a picturesque bay - this is the perfect setting for a back-to-nature get away. Ingo's love and passion for his slice of paradise is palpable, from his striking photography on the walls and his warm smile in every interaction. He's as involved or hands-off as you need; available for tours or questions, or willing to let you explore by yourself. The cabins and grounds are immaculate, and clearly kept with pride. I will definitely be treasuring my memories of this trip!
There's nothing not to like, but don't forget to pack drinking water!

My favorite part about the place was how quiet it was! No traffic noise, barely heard our neighbors and such a peaceful setting. The cabins are laid out just far enough away from each other that you have privacy but close enough if your friends are there in other cabins that they would not be far. The water front screened in room was perfect to enjoy the evenings and we loved the Clubhouse for when it was raining. We used our covered deck the most and enjoyed exploring the Arichat area not far away.
The only thing I could say bothered me was our fridge was a little loud when it kicked in (sorry I forgot to mention that Ingo). Mosquitoes would have been a problem but I came prepared with my thermacell, coils and bug spray and left with barely a bite so just be prepared (as you should be anywhere you go)

This stay is a visual, cultural and historical experience, its not just a lodge. Its an experience. If you want to dive, do it, if you want to Kayak or canoe do it, if you want to chill with nature and space do it, if you want to view the clubhouse/ museum, do it, its a must visit. Maria and Son, Ingo are the best of the best. I will be back!

1. The owners Maria & Ingo treated us like Family. They were warm and welcoming. 2. The house was surrounded with trees, birds chirping in the morning, and it just helped us feel like we are on vacation. 3. The house had basic amenities that you need. Nothing fancy, but everything was nicely kept and was very cute. 4. Thanks for the Ukulele & CD player. We had lots of fun with it. 5. Perfect vacation home (and, there is a reason I call it HOME).

The staff (Ingo, Maria and Ursula!) were so accommodating and friendly. The outdoor cabin was quaint and very functional. We really enjoyed the well-kept grounds and surrounding area which was ocean waterfront with great gathering spaces and quiet zen areas w/sauna. This experience truly exceeded expectations in every way.
The water quality in the cabin wasn't great, but it's an outdoor cabin, so that's what there is.

Lovely little remote spot, great for a change of pace in regards to life. Able to disconnect from the online world and just enjoy the company of your partner, and nature. The cabin was set up in a lovely way for a couple to enjoy their time in if they choose to stay in rather than explore. Lots of options to do on site, and plenty to do within the area. The host was extremely welcoming, his kindness and knowledge exceeded expectations. You can tell they care about their visitors, and that this is a passion.
Only thing that could have possibly made it any better than it already was, would be a fire pit. However that is reasonably not feasible in the specific location.

Beautiful property, they make you feel so welcome. It’s very quiet and calm, extremely comfortable and cozy for a one on one getaway with someone. We had issues with our vehicle during our stay and they absolutely went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and got where we needed to go.

The cabin was very well cared for, very clean, and nicely decorated. What a cute place! It was just the right size for us, and there were lots of nice little touches, like twinkle lights, a privacy curtain for the bed, books to read, etc. The kitchen was well equipped. There was privacy from the other cabins. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. There was a nice dock where we could sit, read, and enjoy the view.
Not much. Be prepared to have no cell service, which can be nice if you want to disconnect. The bed was a little firm for us, but we like particularly soft beds.

Very friendly host. Beautiful lodge in a beautiful location in a forest on an island. 100% recommend to anyone who is visiting Nova Scotia and looking for a peaceful place to stay.
Only one thing. There is no wifi due to no reception in that area which is not hotel’s fault but you can get signal at the main house
