My partner and I have been to the Auberge Royal Versailles several times. It is where we are staying in Montreal. We are not engaged in tourist activities but often go there for other purposes, like visiting friends, seeing plays or movies or shopping. The place is well-kept, and the staff is very professional. It is comfortable and the best value for money in Montreal right now.
The only thing keeping us from giving the place a 10 is the noise of the AC units. But unless you are a very light sleeper, this is a minor thing.

The room was spacious and very clean, and there was plenty of parking. If you're coming to Montreal by car then this is an ideal choice as it is next to the Radisson metro station from where you can get downtown in less than 20 minutes. You really don't want to drive in Montreal; the condition of the roads and the traffic are a nightmare.
There aren't many dining choices within walking distance unless you want fast food. The nearby shopping centre isn't great either.

Room 216 was a standard American dual queen bed. It was clean and did have all the amenities and essentials but nothing very fancy however. The Hotel is conveniently located across the street of a subway station. You can have breakfast on the premises for a price not included in the room fee. Restaurant service and food were excellent. The chef was friendly and attentive to customer needs.
My room was located less than 60 ft of a large Power Transformer and Distribution Station. I am allergic to the EMF generated by these power plants. I did not notice when I entered the room because the blinds were closed. If I had known, I would have requested a room change. Mattress was OK but the bed sheets are made of synthetic fabric instead of cotton. these sheets are known to generate static electricity which induces, in my case, severe leg cramps. (Hint!): the way to get around this problem is to apply slightly wet towels on both legs and you will not be bothered with static electricity.

Everything was fine: the room was spacious and clean, the parking effortless and even though the hotel is not that central, it was only a 1 min walk to the closest train station that took you downtown in about 30 min. What was absolutely exceptional was the young woman (I am so sorry I do not remember her name) working at the reception desk during our stay. She was welcoming, cheerful and very helpful in any matter you could ask for. It gives you a very good feeling to be treated in such a lovely way, especially since we had a very contrary experience at a different hotel during our trip. If you need to do laundry: There is a laundromat close by which is only a 15 min walk, we got the instructions how to get there at the reception. There is a lovely vegan cafe right next to it, so even the chore of doing laundry was a nice experience.

It was clean. It had an elevator. It was easy to get to in a car. Beds were fine. Bathroom is fine.
It’s far from downtown Montreal. The area is a little shady and the entrance and exits to the building via driving were very strange. There’s a giant power centre behind the building, which was very disconcerting.

Free parking is great feature if you travel by own car. You can park your car and then the hotel is very close to Metro station to go everywhere. Staff are friendly. Hotel was clean and comfortable. They easily gave me $20 discount for a mistake they had done about booking.
At booking time, we had upgraded the room ($10) to have the premium room with balcony and pool view. But it seems they didnt do this properly despite the confirmation of booking and charging the fee. However the receptionist easily refunded $20 and said if I had mentioned this at the moment of getting the room, they would have changed it for us.

We were upgraded to a suite - lots of space. Parking on-site was good, and the hotel provided steering-wheel locks for guests. Crime is high in Montreal.
The reason we were upgraded to a suite was a bunch of school children who were in Montreal for athletic competitions. They were yelling and running down the halls until after 10:00 p.m. each night. Free breakfast was not offered.

Very close to the metro which was very convenient. Also appreciated that the room did not have carpet which is a huge plus from a cleanliness standpoint.
The price of the room for two double beds was extreme (understand it was formula 1 weekend, which was why we were there). Our price did not include breakfast, there was no ice machine or vending machines.

Breakfast in house restaurant was very good and priced well. Daily maid service was very good. Beds were comfortable. Metro station is next door and best way to get around. Price was good for Formula 1 weekend. Hotel provided a gift for event guests, an unexpected bonus. Would stay again on any visit to Montreal.
