The location is convenient to visit many of the whole sale market places. Taxi drivers know the hotel very well as it is an oldest hotel in town and it is easy to give direction. The front office staffs are helpful and especially their supervisor, Ms. carmen was proactive to assist us in our queries. Excellent hospitable staff overall.

The hotel is amazing despite its age .The room where we stayed flooring is renovated and not carpet, which is excellent. But,there is a sole smell on the corridor, not that much bad, but you could feel it. May be it could be from the corridor carpet.

A welcoming atmosphere and helpful assistance truly enhance the experience. From warm greetings to thoughtful gestures, the team creates a positive environment. It's the small details that elevate a trip from ordinary to extraordinary.

Sometimes, the room has strong sewer smells.

The location is perfect either for canton fair (and free shuttle) as well as a short cab or slightly longer walk to all the markets, restaurants and attractions. There’s a mall directly over the road and 10 or so restaurants within a 10 minute walk (even a kfc and macs) . There’s a Starbucks a few mins walk away and Beijing Road is 15 mins on a cab.

I can’t really fault anything with this hotel

The room was amazing and spacious and so was the whole hotel, it felt luxurious. It’s very close to fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s that was working 24 hours, Dominos and KFC. TV had some English movies and series so I did not get bored while staying in the room. They had a Canton Fair registration desk which was quick and very convenient as well as transfers to the fair. They were giving out water before shuttle and snacks when we were dropped off after the Canton Fair. Great hotel and service, I give it 5*

The hotel did not respond to emails or enquiries

The Dong Fang was the most amazing hotel of my 12 day trip in China. I visited for 3 different hotels. We arrived at about 3am but.got a very warm welcome with pleasant staff. Rooms are spacious with spacious bathrooms. Breakfast is so well served. A huge variety of different options. Pool is amazing, even though we never used it. The manager on Duty, Kevin, really treated us so well and was so accommodating. He was really a gentlemen in how he ensured our comfort. The foyer is so grand and welcoming. You don't want to leave. I've been travelling to Guangzhou for many years. I've now decided that I'll only stay at the Dong Fang in future. Hassan

There was nothing not to like

The location is perfect as there are restaurants and coffee shops everywhere. We booked a suite so we also had the complimentary drinks and snacks in late afternoon which my dad enjoyed the most. I myself enjoyed the heated pool with powerful jets. Breakfast is perfect and the staff there are friendly and amazing.

I stayed in old wing which the room is much bigger compared with my friends' room in new wing.

Very good breakfast, loved the architecture of the hotel and beauty of gardens and pool. Staff very friendly - particularly Roy at reception. Beautiful shops in the lobby. Great shower and bathroom. Very happy there. The adjoining Macow Street restaurant was authentic with excellent and very reasonably priced food.

The room is amazing. Bed is very comfortable and the amenities are amazing. Nothing to complain about.. They took care of every single detail to help us during the Canton fair time. Coffee and snacks upon departure from the hotel to the fair by shuttle but and a great welcome with snacks and Ice creme when coming back from the Canton Fair

A refurbished 1960s architectural gem built for party members, the Dong Fang is modern and sophisticated, but teases with some playful cold-war notes and hints of elegant decay. Gorgeous ambience, wonderful facilities and excellent service from Carman Lin and her team, this hotel is in my top 5 accommodation experiences.

Early closing times for the gym/pool

Our experience at this hotel was truly exceptional. The staff were welcoming and professional, the rooms were modern, spotless, and offered a stunning city view. The location is perfect close to malls, restaurants, and public transport. Breakfast was delicious with a great variety. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Guangzhou. Would definitely stay here again!
