I recently stayed at Casas del XVI in Santo Domingo and absolutely loved it! As a solo traveler, safety was my top priority, and they exceeded my expectations. There were always guards stationed outside the casas and patrolling the area, and they made sure I got into my casa safely every time. The property itself was stunning—just like the photos online. I fell in love with my room and left with so many decorating ideas. The staff was incredibly helpful and courteous throughout my stay. One of the highlights was having a butler who took my breakfast order each morning and even doubled as my photographer by the pool—he captured some amazing shots! I truly can’t say enough good things about this boutique hotel. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

The construction in the area.

The spaces, from the courtyards to the pools to the communal spaces to the rooms themselves - everything was magnificent. The service easily matched the facilities - they were constantly helpful and accommodating. Great character and absolutely unique destination.

The food was not quite up to the excellent quality of the rest of the establishment. The menu could have been both simpler (fewer items) but more diverse, in offering items. Meaning there could have been more cultural and culinary diversity on the menu, as well as a broader range of the kinds of dishes offered, from snacks, appetisers, entrees, mains, side dishes, etc.

Our stay was nothing short of amazing. For seven nights, I was privileged to stay at this property. The architecture and design are unreal. I have a high standard for cleanliness and they certainly exceeded my expectations. The location was central to everything that we needed, restaurants and sites. We parked our car in their private parking area and never had to fight for space. These are all wonderful, but I will have to say that the people who work there are what make this place special. From the moment you walk into their doors, all of the front desk professionals go above and beyond to ensure you have a good stay. Our concierge, Jeuri was the true highlight of our trip. He was patient with us, attentive and was just a calming and peaceful presence. We left feeling so blessed to have met such incredible people. I hope the owners know this and appreciate what they have in those that make this hotel a success.

The rooms and location were excellent. The rooms were very well equipped the eating spaces were lovely.

The service was very slow. The restaurant is clearly not set up for fine dining despite the unwarranted high prices the food was mediocre, overcooked and cold. The staff did their best but the starters arrived with the mains despite being clearly labelled as starters in the menu.

Had ample security on premises, room was as advertised and had ample space, the concierge team was very helpful. The lounge area for our section was nice to entertain our family that visited.

I thought I purchased a room with its own pool and courtyard but we ended up sharing the space with other guests. It wasn't clear who the actual guests were because each day it was a new person or couple. The hotel is in the city and the rooms are not connected to the lobby so you had to walk outside and cross the street to get to the lobby if the communication via WhatsApp didn't work efficiently.

The staff is friendly and helpful

They sit you down to tell you that you cannot bring outside food in your room. Also breakfast is not included. I also thought that there should be a small coffee machine and tea as a courtoisie in the room. I was surprised to find out that the pool was not on the house where we were staying in (not mentioned on the website). Also they nocked on our room door to offer a tiny bag of cookies the size of my finger (I found it amusing considering how much we spent for the room). I find it very expensive for what they have to offer. I would not recommend this hotel.

We had an amazing time! The hotel is stunning and very good located. Very beautiful! The staff was very nice and the food delicious.

- the day before our arrival, the property got in touch by whatsapp asking the security code of the credit card we used to secure the booking (through booking.com!!) - after refusing to communicate the security code (asked by an unknown mobile number!!) through a link sent by whatsapp, the property replied that - if no security code was communicated - the booking is not secured (although confirmed by booking.com) - after arrival we raised the issue with the manager on duty but did not get a satisfying answer - we realized that we were finally charged CHF 315 (instead of the CHF 285 confirmed through booking). we hope we will get the CHF 30 back!

Absolutely beautiful. Decor is charming and comfortable. Staff is well trained and anxious to help. Selso, the butler at my “house” could not have been more helpful with delicious meals, beverages etc. The pool shared by several rooms in same house.

had a flight at 2230hrs. was offered 70 usd until 1700hrs, but wanted 1900 and had to pay a full night. found it excessive, but without alternative.

A true gem ! Look no further , book this enchanting venue and experience the essence of Colonial Santo Domingo . Beautifully designed, architectural splendor and impeccable service ! The food is delicious and the staff is outstanding!!
