Maison Fossemagne was amazing from the moment you open the door. The original stone floors, doors and beams are beautifully paired with the eclectic objet d’art that appear to reflect the owners’ excellent taste. The renovations are sympathetic to the building yet modern and spacious. Both Rob and Rini were very welcoming and willing to share their experiences of renovating the property, of the area and of buying property in France.

We loved our stay from start to finish and struggle to criticise anything. The only thing we could say is that we didn’t think the the website photos did Maison Fossemagne justice.

The house is extremely well decorated and welcoming. Our room had 38m2 and the bed was very comfortable. The hosts are friendly and it was good that our dog was able to stay with us. The breakfast is really good, the hosts present you with fresh bread and pastry. The garden is also very pleasant. All in all, a good stay.

The pool was a bit disappointing, as the water was not clean (green water). This didn't match our expectations. It's summer time, so a little care with the pool water would have been nice.

We had a good welcome. We had a super-comfortable, huge bed. Massive room -more like an apartment. Great arrangements to enable you to have sensibly priced drinks there. This is a place with lots of character. Hosts were very pleasant. Secure off-road parking. Beautifully peaceful. Lovely garden.

Worth noting that the owners seem to be ongoing in their developments, so lots of things aren’t quite finished… this adds to the character!

Beautiful large village centre property with spacious stunningly decorated rooms including sitting area and tv, wet room, and seat8ng outdoors with pool. Hosts were welcoming, very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast and the food was lovely and fresh. We really enjoyed meeting the hosts and their lovely dogs. Nothing was too much trouble and we loved hearing about the property, their plans for further renovation and about the local area. We would highly recommend to our family and friends and we hope stay again.

I can’t write anything other than super: Rob and Rini were super hosts, the location was super calm, everything from the pool to the decorations to breakfast to the location of the wall outlets was super. However, the two separate sinks in the bathroom, the extra rolls of toilet paper (in comparison with other hotels that provide not one sheet extra) and the absolute magnificent idea of the motion activated night lights built into the beds were extra super! The hosts are very helpful, thoughtful and funny. We felt very much at home and hope that we will stay there again soon.

We stayed here with our three young children to break the journey from St Malo to the Dordogne, and it was exactly what we needed - the kids cooled off on the pool, ate a massive dinner (which the hosts prepared to be child-friendly), and slept amazingly on comfy beds. The family room is excellent, and we also had the newly renovated room next door, which is a great combination given we were travelling with a newborn. Beautiful location, lovely hosts, large cool rooms, plenty of hot water, an honesty bar, home-cooked food for dinner, and a good breakfast spread. Highly recommend.

The hosts were impeccable, the quality of the bed was amazing and it was such a quirky property. Melle is a lovely town, wish we could have explored more. An outstanding B&B with the option of an evening meal.

It’s not a dislike as such but a tea on arrival would have been nice and nothing was in the room but it was all set up downstairs so probably if we asked we could have helped ourselves but we didn’t like to

Such a wonderful, warm welcome by our hosts. We loved the property, our room and we greatly enjoyed talking with our hosts!! We won't hesitate to come back again!

Everything was perfect.

Friendly and helpful hosts, beautiful large family room. Exceptionally comfortable beds and delicious breakfast. Kids loved the pool. This was the perfect bnb for us. Ate at the Secret Garden - lovely location, would recommend. The whole stay was perfect
