We were warmly welcomed by Madame Robert who had placed chairs in one of the 4 spaces immediately outside the Hotel to reserve it for us. The Manager then helped take the cases up to our rooms in the lift! This makes everything easy, even though we were on the 3rd floor. We had luxury rooms with such comfortable mattresses, a large desk with 2 supportive chairs in the case of the Superior Twin Room. Hubby had the family room as it was all that was left in Booking.com. We had been spending our last night at a different hotel in Meyrueis, but it was possible to change us to 2 Budget rooms for that night in the Mont Aigoual. Which we were very pleased about. The budget rooms have everything you need except tissues in the bathroom! The mattress wasn't quite as luxurious, and the desk was smaller with one stool. The room is smaller too as is the price!! But it has a terrace!! So that was a huge plus! There are no kettles in the rooms but Reception will bring a drink to the Salon for you. The grounds are lovely with comfortable sun loungers, and tables with chairs & seats all over the place!. Some in the shade, some not. It is on a slope with wooden steps up part of it. The rest is a bit uneven and steepish. I'm 76 with health issues, so it may not seem so steep to others. ! There is a lovely view of the surrounding countryside with the occasional Vulture flying past and a fab pool. One end has a vertical ladder that I avoided, but the other end, in one corner, proper steps. I sat on the side and dangled my feet in the water (22°) until I got used to the temperature. The restaurant is superb. The head Chef has a Michelin star! There is a very good laundry service. All the staff are really helpful and concerned for their residents happiness and wellbeing. I felt very cared for.

Hardly anything! Would appreciate some sheep or goats cheeses at petit déjeuner. At the moment it's all cow. (Lait de vache). The area is famous for sheep's cheese of many sorts so I wish they would provide some at breakfast for those of us sensitive to cows milk products as I got fed up with just cold meats!

The hotel is easy to find close to the centre of town. The hosts are very friendly and speak good English. We were offered the use of the garage for our motorcycles and the laundry room to dry our kit. The rooms are large, quiet, comfortable and well appointed. The restaurant serves good quality food at a reasonable price and there is plenty of choice.

Great location in a beautiful small town, fantastic pool, very good breakfast and the attached restaurant is also excellent

France was going through a month long heatwave of 35C days, so my only suggestion would be adding air conditioning. There was nothing else not to like

Superb, traditional hotel, family run, the owner/host was present at all times, supervising the restaurant, attending to the smallest request by guests, operating reception at times. Superb location the the Cevenne region. I recommend without reservation. Worth noting that almost all guests ( including me) were elderly and I imagine that this tradional hotel also serving traditional Cevenne style dishes in their restaurant appealed to this age group. My room overlooked the rear garden/pation and swimming pool and was quiet. Breakfast was one of the best I've experienced in French hotels.

We know this hotel for many years, but it has really made use of the recent pandemic to upgrade and improve, as rooms were really splendid (in the past they were a little old-fashioned). Wifi too has improved beyond all previous experience. They keep their original staff as long as possible, which makes for a great sense of continuity. Madame the owner, who inherited it from her parents (and probably her grandparents!) rules with a rod of iron, but is delightful to talk with. Meyrueis is a perfect French village, calm, quiet, a river running through which you can hear bubbling and chuckling all night.

Can't think of anything negative. One of those places you love to return to and hate leaving.

We have stayed at Le Mont Aigoual before so knew how great it is. Lovely position, great gardens and pool. And the food in the restaurant and at Breakfast is fabulous

Excellent four course dinners provided with half board stay. Good breakfasts, friendly staff. Pool and space in the garden. Good location in small quiet pretty historic village within easy reach of the dramatic scenery of gorges, causse plateaux and Cévennes mountains.

No air conditioning, although this wasn’t a problem for us. Room window configuration onto rising garden meant the curtains or blind had to be closed when changing.

A lovely place to spend a night with comfortable rooms, lovely pool, set in spacious grounds, near centre of village. Excellent breakfast, friendly staff. Lovely views from rooms looking onto pool, grounds and countryside.

No car park but very close to free public car park about 50 m from hotel. Winter-weight duvet on bed not ideal for heatwave when a top sheet would have been welcome alternative.

The room was very clean and comfortable, with a beautiful garden view. The food, which was served very nicely, was very tasty. The staff was very friendly.
