During a heat wave in August, the Air Conditioning worked beautifully. The fixtures were older and mismatched, but that it so much more charming. Breakfast in the garden fulfilled all of my Provence fantasies. Food was fresh, service was prompt and the setting, complete with blooming flowers and figs and a fountain, was lovely.

Maybe it was the time of our trip, but neither of us slept well, as the mattress was as "charming" as the setting. As advertised, it is at the bottom of a giant hill that you must ascend to get to Moustiers - but don't be turned off, the climb is steep, but it is short and there is no parking in the city even if you wanted to drive. Still, most folks descending once it was dark were using their phone flashlights, me included.

We really liked our spacious room with large corner bath. (We highly recommend the room named ‘Uranus’). The room was very clean & bed very comfortable. Air-conditioning worked very well. Parking was easy & right next to hotel. A steep but not too difficult walk from the hotel to the nearby old centre of Moustiers Sainte Marie. The hotel is a short 10 minute drive to the beautiful Lake of Sainte-Croix which we so enjoyed paddling on. Also, it is extremely worth visiting the beautiful tiny villages of Roumoules & Puimoisson that are a real taste of rural life.

Staff were not in attendance most of the time & it felt like guests are an inconvenience to them. Whilst the room was lovely, there were no crockery or cutlery other than 2 teacups. Definitely not set up at all for any self-catering, not even a microwave. Breakfast looked very pricey & quite minimal. It was hard to get access to the pretty & shady garden as the staff seemed happiest to have the gate shut. Parking anywhere in the town is almost impossible especially at night - so when dining out pick a very early time slot in the evening.

We liked La Bastide du Paradou - it had an authentic feel that so many places have lost through over modernisation and contemporary design. All the rooms are very spacious with views over the garden. The bed was large and comfortable and the place was spotless. The en-suite bathrooms was huge and had, unlike so many hotels, plenty of space to hang towels wash kits etc. There is a spacious ding room. The breakfast is good. Dinner should be booked in advance as there is a limited, home cooked menu. The smallish garden is delightfully overgrown and a lovely place to have an evening drink from the bar. The Bastide itself is situated a seven minute walk below Moustier via a lovely footpath. The husband & wife proprietors speak limited English but are extremely helpful. The free car parking is also a definite plus as parking in or near the village would be difficult.

The garden appears to be closed between 12 and 3pm for the proprietors to have some down-time but I think this is negotiable. The property wouldn't be suitable for those who would find the uphill walk to the village difficult.

Excellent sized rooms, we had a choice of three rooms on the top floor Breakfast delicious and very accommodating we had two evening meals with our group of 6 and the food and wine were outstanding, cooked to order with friendly service The garden was cosy and hospitable and ideal for pre-dinner drinks good advice for our walks and sightseeing

The bath didn't have a working plug but one of the other rooms did so we borrowed that one

I really enjoyed garden, it looks amazing. The breakfast was delicious and served outside. The room is quite basic, but clean and rather large. Beware about stares, but for me it was not an issue. The location is peaceful but close to town centre

The lady at the reception was not too welcoming. Also instead of check-in at 15 (info provided in booking) we were told that our room will be ready after 16 without any explanation.

Great location with friendly and helpful hosts. Lovely cool rooms and a beautiful shady garden. Breakfast was exceptionally good. Fresh bread, croissant, scrambled eggs, jam, marmalade, tea, coffee, all served in the garden. Worth the €15. Perfect location and with parking included is a great place to stay. Don’t try and drive and park in the town. Park at the hotel and walk!!

In a great spot at the base of the hill with the gorgeous town a pleasant (but steep) walk through vegetable gardens away. You can park outside the door and the breakfast is sensational. Rooms large and comfortable, aircon, quiet.

Steep circular staircase can make carrying a heavy suitcase a chore but worth it!

The views from the bedroom were stunning! The host was vey helpful and gave us lots of information on places to go and things to do. The breakfast was delicious and the setting was very tranquil. The location was ideal; the town centre was a short (but steep!) 5 minute walk away.

Lovely hotel with a beautiful garden for relaxing and enjoying breakfast. A short but taxing uphill walk into the town. Staff friendly and very accommodating.

A very small thing, but the room could have done with a proper shower.

Great location, 5 min walking distance from Moustiers charming town. Room was big, comfortable, calm and with a gorgeous view. The hotel is owned and managed by a family: all staff members were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and cooked on demand from fresh & local ingredients.
