Good news, bad news! Good news: we got to stay there one night. The bad news: we only stayed there one night. But we took advantage of every amenity and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The real highlight, however, was L'Orangerie. A review on this website mentioned that dining there was a seminal experience. As foodies, that was the all we needed to know! So we took it on...the 8-course tasting (degustation) menu. The quality of the food, it's preparation, and it's presentation was exquisite. Surpassed only by the outstanding service of Imaad, the waiter, sommelier, and maître'd. We concluded our stay the next day with a mediocre massage but there's no way that was going to impact the delight of our stay at Château de l'Epinay!

Despite communicating with the massage therapists (in French) before they started and during the massage, that we wanted more pressure, it was in vain. Disappointed!

The Chateau had a a lot of charm and was in a very tranquil area. Pretty garden and pool and very interesting building architecturally. We had dinner in the restaurant as we did not fancy having to drive anywhere in the evening. Good food and a very nice and helpful sommelier. Good breakfast with helpful staff, served in the old kitchen and morning room.

There is no accounting for taste, so this is my very personal opinion: the building is very beautiful and there were some very nice bits of furniture and fantastic rugs, only to be spoiled by very incongruous Thai decorations all over the place. The furniture in the room, even if a bit dark was in keeping with the style/period of the chateau but the chair for the dressing table was cheap convention conference room standard, totally out of place. There was piped music in the restaurant which we found awful, we were told the owner himself had curated it and was very proud of his choice (same with the gap year decorations from Thailand). Very mixed results all over

Beautiful tranquil location with exceptional staff. We booked for 2 nights and stayed for 4! There is everything you need including lovely walks with our dog, a fabulous natural swimming pool, wonderful restaurant for lunch and dinner and delicious abundant breakfast. Tennis court, spa (wonderful treatment and massage!) swings for the children, and garden board games available. Indoors beautiful library and lounge with piano and comfortable sofas to sink into. Splendid few days in a magnificent historic chateau!

Stay was too short!

Great care has been taken all around the property- providing a great amount of refinements. Bespoke and eclectic, yet elegant furniture. Staff was very attentive and of great professionalism. The restaurant was very pleasant-with wonderful staff. Garden (including vegetable garden) well tended with very pleasant gardener. Very old st-Bernard dog ever so gentle -

Whilst it is a matter of taste (and age!) - but I like more privacy in my bathroom- the room was very nice (petite but very tastefully made) the bathroom was with glass panels without curtains….

Absolutely lovely hotel!!! A majestic setting with wonderful staff and service. Can't say enough good things about this little slice of paradise. The rooms are quaint and each unique, the food is excellent and the staff go above and beyond to make your stay memorable!! Highly recommend a stay here. We can't wait to go back!!

Some rooms don't have air conditioning so check when booking if that's a requirement.

Glad to find my own chateau in france where is well furnished organized with genuinely friendly staffs with lots of things to do which make me becoming relaxed comfortable and be peaceful. If you like playing tennis, table tennis, Sauna and listening the birds singing, you will be fond of here. Like to come back once per every every year.

Legitimately stunning location, eager staff, really cool rooms, unexpected touches (very good pool table/home theater), well located for exploring Anjou region and even Brittany. Owners purposely have focused on a spa experience in a somewhat isolated location, and it works. The restaurant is excellent, we actually purposely ate dinner here each night, could drink as much wine as we liked and sit out in evening air as long as possible. Very good breakfast.

Just a touch expensive, but honestly, it's well earned.

The welcome and facilities were all excellent. The natural swimming pool was a real treat and had a very tranquil atmosphere. We had dinner both nights at the L'Orangerie, which was excellent. Breakfast was served in the beautiful dinning room , with plenty of choices. In the evening, by the lake we were able to watch the beavers ( possibly otters, but unlikely). We cycled from here and joined the national cycle routes. Our bikes were safe on the back of our car.

Some caution about the lake and depth to get in for the canoes ...it's much deeper and more challenging than it looks..

This is a spectacular hotel and our welcome was warm and we were served tea in a very large room while we waited for our room. We had arrived early but this did not faze the staff who were friendly . The charming room was lovely and we were offered the choice of two rooms next to each other. Our room had a view of a track and farm buildings which could have been a painting. Dinner at the restaurant in the evening was very good. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive. A beautiful setting to wander back to our room after dinner meeting 2 funny cats on the way.

The wooden stairway and decking needs attention soon and the handrail is not secure and could be dangerous.

We had a prestige room and wasn't disappointed, lovely room. I had read some of the comments about some rooms being small so decided to go for the middle size room which was the right decision and in fact it was a very large room compared to what i expected so go for that if you can.Staff are super freindly, happy and helpful. Lovely lounge with real fire. Great natural swimming pool. Piano room with Kawai Baby grand. Nice walks. Very dog freindly, you can take dogs everywhere. Our room also had direct access oitside to the gardens. Cant recommend this place enough, very special place. Also Bed was super comfy, one of best nights sleep I've had for a long time

That I couldn't stay longer!
