The host at this hotel is amazing, could not do enough for us. The rooms and breakfast were fantastic.

Very nice quirky art deco style hotel

The code to the side door was emailed to us . We let ourselves in and found our room . We never saw anyone until we came to leave and we gave our money to the kitchen staff for our nights stay .We did drink 3 beers from the fridge but the kitchen staff did not charge us for them . We never even saw any other guests if there was any . I was really strange not seeing anyone from the hotel . If I was to go back to Colditz Castle again I would stay there again .

I really don't know where to begin with this review... In all my years of travelling, this was one of the most bizarre places I've ever stayed at. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon. The main door was left open, and my room key was just inside. There were no staff around whatsoever. No food. No bar. I believe that the Waldhaus has 18 rooms, and I was the only guest!

I tried to message the owner several times, and made 2 telephone calls (one to the "emergency" number sellotaped to the front door) to let them know that I had arrived, would be leaving very early the next morning, and had not settled the bill with them. More than a week later, I still have heard nothing. No communication, no support, no welcome. You are left to fend for yourself. Bring your own food and drink!!! Also the bed pillows were huge, but SO soft that they may as well have been filled with sawdust! This is a 19th century gasthof, in the middle of nowhere. The spooky thing was that my room had no curtains. Even spookier, in the hotel foyer, there was a very strange collection of toys, including dolls and some very weird creatures indeed! Thank goodness there were no clowns, otherwise I would have fled! Herr Schneider, PLEASE contact me to resolve the payment issue as I feel bad that you have not yet charged me for me stay, and if I do not pay, then I will feel obligated (and haunted!) forevermore....

There was no communication. DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL When I arrived (by bicycle - and I had advised them of this and was on a 3100km solo cycling trip) the doors were locked. There was no message for me, doing no key. Nothing. I dialed the emergency number and no reply just an answer phone. I got no return call to my message. I have I called this number several times. I phoned the main number, but I could just hear it ringing in the main hotel and which was locked with no staff. I messaged via Booking.Com but they did not reply. Some other guests arrived who had a key to the main door and let me in. I hoped to find some information for me or a key and instructions - I nothing at all. This place is disgraceful and a joke. I was there just before 18.40 I found another nearby Guest House who took me in and were delightful. - and gave me a great room, and a meal and breakfast.. KUR KUTSCHERSTUBE which I recommend. When I was there I told them the story and another guest said the Waldhaus is awful and offers no service. Please DO NOT BOOK THE WALDHAUS I have asked them for a refund and they have not replied. Please can I spoke to Booking. Com customer Services and they say they can not get a response from them either. Shocking. Beware.

A waste of money. We were heading from Ukraine, booked an accommodation for 5 people but no one shown up. no one answered our calls, our messages were ignored. We were charged full price for nothing.
