This was a great place to stay. The location is wonderful, right on a lively street with all kinds of restaurants and events going on, a block from the marketplatz and near the river with a view of the ruined castle on the other side to be enjoyed. The wall around the town made it quaint, too. The host was wonderfully cheery and English-speaking. His wife was solicitous and caring. The restaurant was really good for dinner and the breakfast for guests was generous and delicious. It was my favorite stay on the whole trip. Parking was nearby and a lot just for the hotel but down a narrow, narrow street. Everything to make a pleasant stay seemed to be thought out.

I would have liked not to have to climb the stairs, but I ended up having to go up stairs almost everywhere I stayed. The room was tiny, tiny but worked out for me since I am used to small spaces. Someone with claustrophobia might not like it.

People working there are very friendly and enjoy having guests; location was perfect - it is a nice feeling to get in touch with history somehow, as the hotel is part of an old building in the old city center. The building in itself has a certain charm. We also han an excellent dinner at the restaurant. Everything was really wonderful.

As the room we had was recently renovated, the smell of of paint was still present in the room, but it did not prevent us from having a good sleep. As there was a coffee machine in the room, it would have been great to find 2 cups for actually having a coffee; as there were only some plastic glasses in the room, but cannot be used for hot coffee or for a tea. Yet, it was not such a big inconvenience for just one night of accommodation.

The hotel is in a very cute town. It has an amazing restaurant that offers traditional local dishes and drinks. Very friendly staff. The city P+R offers up to 3 hours of free parking closeby.

In the room we stayed the shower was a bit too small. Also the pillows were way too soft. But of course these are for my taste. Preferences can vary.

Germany at its best. A traditional warm welcome with generous service. The dinner and breakfast were very good and the local wines were superb.

Altstadt, historic context.

Located right on Karlstadt's main street. Very helpful and enjoyable employees. The interactions throughout breakfast were memorable.

Only one power outlet in the bathroom forces you to be strategic, and you have to be careful going up the stairs (on the first trip upstairs my wife and I almost ate it because the steps are a little shallow)

Liked the feeling of an original building made into a hotel.

The room was above the restaurant and the cigarette smoke penetrated the room.

This is an old hotel/tavern and restaurant with lots of history. Good breakfast and friendly staff.

My room was somewhat small and not air conditioned which was an issue as it was a very hot day.And night. I left the window open and was a little concerned about mosquitos unti I remembered the squads of swallows who swept the alleyway going back and forth to their nests. No mosquitos would survive there long.

We really liked this traditional hotel located in the heart of main street. Really friendly owner and staff. The Restaurant/bar had a wonderful atmosphere and really good traditional food. Breakfast was excellent with eggs and bacon cooked to order. No lift. Private parking nearby. We hope to return here.
