Nice location next to a beautiful river path. Easy to get in and out from the hotel and car park. Very friendly staff that were more than happy to help. I was satisfied with my stay at this price point.

Smell of cigarettes in the corridor. Also cigarette packets dropped on the floor outside of the main room entrance. Although this would be put down to the type of person using the hotel. A few broken plug sockets which could be very dangerous to children or careless adults.

Family run hotel, everyone we came in contact with was very friendly and welcoming. Due to our travel situation we requested a check-in outside of the normal hours that was easily accommodated with a smile. Typical German breakfast was perfect, everything was fresh and tasty. It's an old building and it shows but the rooms were nicely decorated and charming. We will certainly book again on our next trip to Essen.

Not much to say here, everything was as described and met all of our needs.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was just what was needed for 2 people. Breakfast was ideal and at 5 Euros each morning, it started the day perfectly. Continental style, but good choice too. Restaurant behind the hotel was great too, lovely lunch there. With not much around, but a small village close by, it was goo access for a lunchtime.

Breakfast was very good, location lovely with good walk nearby. Very spacious apartment . Good tea/coffee making facilities . Host friendly.

Minor issue with lack of cups for tea/coffee, however host very apologetic about this.

Nice, very clean and comfortable hotel for a stopover. Friendly service. We had a family room under the roof, which was very spacious. The beds were great.

The hotel is squeezed in between a pretty well frequented road, train tracks and I believe I heard air planes as well. I'm not very noise sensitive but light sleepers might want to pack ear plugs. Breakfast was very nicely presented but there were no eggs and no fruit. We would have gladly paid a bit extra for that.

Beautiful place around, nice quiet area, nice hotel ,very comfortable beds. Wonderful host, thank you very much. We will be back :)

The hotel is very clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is idyllic in a beautiful area with access to Essen and the surrounding towns.
