The hotel was a beautiful antique hotel with a big swimming pool and sauna. The rooms were nice and cozy. The hotel provided bathrobes and slippers too. The relaxing area was beautiful with forest view. The breakfast spread was nice. The restaurant had beautiful ambiance and you could book 3 course and 4 course meal in advace. The interior of the breakfast was a mood lifter.

The hotel was bit far from the busstop. We were not aware that we have to call the bus service for pickup an hour early. So we had to walk up the elevation till the bus stop with our luggage. It was a big tiring as it was hot.

Really loved this place and our family suite which had lovely views across the little valley and to the stream and goats below. It had a very nice, rural feel to it. Loads of parking right outside. Good minibar which was helpful as you are in the middle of nowhere (which we loved). Nice little bar for an evening drink. Lots of space. Great pool and spa area. Cosy, German restaurant serving local specialities along with the usual German food. Great breakfast with lots of choice although there was always a queue for hot drinks and the bread kept running out.

Seemed very under-staffed and the staff always seemed a bit stressed out. When we tried to check in, we had to wait for ages for someone to appear. At dinner the waitresses seemed very busy and stressed out, not much smiling. At breakfast the two staff were run off their feet and popular foods kept running out and they couldn't keep up with demand. When we checked out the receptionist just sat with her back to customers on the phone for what felt like ages as a queue formed and made our onwards journey late.

It’s difficult to know where to begin in singing the praises of this most wonderful hotel. Firstly, the location: although quite hard to get to from the motorway, through several small villages, it’s worth the effort, as the hotel is set in the most beautiful location in the Black Forest, with way marked paths right from the door. It’s a peaceful spot and nature lovers will appreciate the variety of trees and lovely walks. Then there is the hotel itself - spacious and elegant and wonderfully quiet without disturbing background music blaring out of loudspeakers. Everything is relaxing and restful. Our room was outstanding with a balcony overlooking the forest and every comfort you could wish for: a large bed with very comfortable mattress and spacious bathroom. A separate seating area invited you to relax, perfect after a day’s travelling. There is ample parking right outside the hotel. The restaurant was excellent, unpretentious yet well cooked food and first-rate wines. In the morning breakfast is served in the stylish conservatory and the range of breakfast items was impressive, all very fresh and tasty. Finally, but perhaps most importantly, the staff are wonderful; they give the impression that they love their job and go out of their way to welcome you and make you feel at home. It is amazing value for money. So to sum up: although this is a large hotel, there is a family and personal atmosphere so you are made to feel that you are a special guest. We will ensure that on our annual drive from England to Italy, we will make a detour if necessary to stay in this perfect hotel.

Absolutely nothing

To the room we had to walk too far. First on the 1st floor out and then walk to the end and then take a lift again. No parking space in front of hotel so we had to drive to the down side and then walked up. No recommend to drive in the darkness there. Room was very specious. Sauna ok. Swim pool too cold. Breakfast ok. Personeel good. No recommend for traveler who want to stay 1 night but wel for natuur lover

Location. Long distance from the highway and darkness on the way in the evening. Difficult find the hotel in the darkness We drove further and return at the 1.5 km away point

Nice location. The rooms were pretty spacious, as was the balcony! The bathroom was perfect and the towels were already on the heater when we arrived Everything was really clean.

The bed consisted of 2 smaller mattresses, which was super uncomfortable as a couple to sleep in. I ended up sleeping on the sofa because I kept rolling in-between the two mattresses. They serve breakfast until 10, but everything was long gone around 9:15 In the room we found some.information sheets, but they were only printed in German. Least they could do is put an English translation at the back of the pages. Food was pretty expensive and also didn't have any translation so we ended up ordering something on takeaway :)

A truly wonderful hotel, set in a beautiful location, with well signposted walks in the Black Forest right from the door. The receptionist welcomed us warmly and showed us to a spacious, elegant room with its own balcony. Dinner was excellent, served in a beautiful dining room, as was the breakfast the next morning in the conservatory - every type of healthy option was on offer and the coffee was excellent. The staff were attentive but unobtrusive - my husband went down to the kitchen in the morning and came back with a tray of early-morning tea, most welcome! The whole place was spotlessly clean. On-site parking was an added advantage. We were disappointed we had only one night there, but have promised ourselves a return visit next year.

Absolutely nothing

Love the Hotels location, with almost a tree house view from its main balcony and from front facing rooms. The decor in the main reception and lobby are gorgeous, very welcoming and old worldy. The pool area and Spa are very peaceful. Just a lovely place - this is our second stay and I think we'll be back in the future too.

It’s a very charming hotel surrounded by the forest, you breath fresh air and relax with the the sound of the nature. Staff is very friendly, bedrooms very comfortable and clean, breakfast very good and complete. The sauna and pool area are also very nice, perfect to relax after a hiking day.

I liked everything, the only thing I could suggest is that if people is traveling with their dog you could offer plates for putting their food and water, and in the restaurant offer them water because sometimes they come thirsty from walking outside

We loved the views of the forest and hearing the birds singing from our room and in the hotel’s lounge area. The swimming pool and breakfast areas are excellent. We loved sitting on the balcony the lounge area, eating cake and drinking coffee. It was very peaceful.

We would have liked to have a kettle or a coffee machine in the room.

Old fashioned, but it's all very nice and tidy, as if I've been transported back 50 years. The swimming pool is large, the sauna is large, there is tea in the spa area. Gym is tiny, needs to be renovated. Breakfast very good.

Wi Fi could be much better. No GSM network, but it helps to disconnect and relax.
