I loved that the hotel was right beside a big tennis, pickleball, and padel center so every morning my friends and I could just wake up and walk right on over to play before grabbing a yummy breakfast nearby. The staff were super helpful in helping us book the courts, as well as recommending us places to visit. It's a small boutique hotel so was never noisy. The rooms were of different colors and were beautiful to look at. Would definitely stay again!

Sometimes the bedsheets had a humidity smell. Not sure why that is, but my guess is they might have sat wet for too long or were not fully dried. The staff quickly changed it when I asked though.

Everything, its a hidden gem in the best part of Bali - Umulas. Close to everything - canggu, Seminyak etc but a peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle….which can be easily reached. Not a huge number of rooms which makes meeting other guest very easy. But what makes it my home away from home is the staff. They are like a little family. There is nothing they wont do to help. They go above and beyond on every level. The food and coffee outstanding and very reasonably priced (as are the rooms). Ive been to bali 20+ times. Since finding el barrio a few years ago I’ve never stayed anywhere else and never will!

By far, the BEST customer service I have EVER seen across any property, across all countries I’ve travelled to. I booked this property for my elderly parents and despite also being in Canggu, I was not able to be with them all the time and therefore couldn’t always be on hand to help them. At this point, enter Gede - he was the property manager for El Barrio and he was EXCEPTIONAL. Quick and clear communication with him before my parents arrived, which allowed him to prepare on how to make my parents’ stay enjoyable. My parents are quite fussy people, but Gede was patient and always willing to go the extra mile to help their comfort. One standout moment was when he personally accompanied my parents to a cafe I was with my wife and her family, despite all the heavy traffic in the area. Otherwise, the property has a colourful Mexicana aesthetic, which lends itself to the young crowd that it targets (my parents being the exception!)

All travellers should be aware that Bali has many roads and side-roads. In Canggu, the area is developing so some of the roads to and from the property are a bit underdeveloped, but not a problem for anyone to navigate!

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at El Barrio Boutique Hotel in Canggu! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the vibrant and unique design of the hotel, blending Mexican and Brazilian influences in a way that felt both artistic and welcoming. A special shoutout to the manager, Gede, who went above and beyond to make sure my stay was flawless. His warm hospitality and attention to detail truly made a difference. The staff were incredibly friendly, and my room was stylish, and so comfortable. The outdoor pool area was perfect for relaxing, and the on-site restaurant and bar served delicious food and drinks. Everything exceeded my expectations—I'll definitely be back!

This hotel was perfect for me and my friend, we loved the style, the bed was comfy, the location is close to shops/cafes. The staff are so friendly and whenever we needed help, the manager gede was available through WhatsApp and made sure any issue was sorted ASAP. They went above and beyond for us while we were travelling to the local islands. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

Didn’t have breakfast at the hotel but it is available and the selection is made right on the spot. The bar is cute and accessible for those staying at the property.

The property is very picturesque and while Bali is a tropical climate understood that the buildings are still open to the outside with opportunities for insects and air to still come through. I didn’t mind it as I expected it but you can’t help the whole island everywhere has places humidity will reach.

I was truly impressed by the vibrant colors of the hotel and the decor; it stands out in a sea of similar Bali aesthetics. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the attentive staff made my stay even better. Although it’s at the end of a dirt road, the neighbors were friendly and welcoming. It is still a great location with lots of cafes and restaurants in walking distance. There was some construction nearby, but it didn’t disturb my experience at all. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again!

Very attractive property, with very comfortable rooms (particularly for singles). Staff knows your name since there are only a few rooms. Despite all the construction on neighboring properties, El Barrio was quiet.

Two people in a room? They should be very friendly. It would be nice to have some food availability, although there are good restaurants not more than a 10 minute walk from your room.

El Barrio is a a great little location. It's far enough out that you're not in the hustle and bustle of main area Canggu, but there is enough happening around the area that you're not stuck looking for things to do or places to eat. De (the host) is truly wonderful. His warm welcome really made you feel special and at home. He alone, it worth the visit.

The road to the hotel is very dark, and uneven.

The property is so clean. It’s aesthetically pleasing too. Whatever you see in the pictures, it looks identical and you’ll feel like you’re in paradise.

I would not say I don’t like it but maybe something they could consider. Rooms are not really soundproof so you can hear sounds from other huts if they’re loud. Besides that, the area around the hotel is a tad bit underdeveloped and can be scary at night however it does not concern me much bc within minutes it’s still accessible to everything else you can imagine.
