I booked a villa or cottage room at Ketapang Indah Hotel in Banyuwangi. The staff service was excellent. My request for adjacent rooms was fulfilled, and they even provided us with rooms that had a connecting door. The hotel’s location is also convenient, being close to the harbor and not too far from the city center, making it easy to find food. What I loved most was the pool with its view towards Bali Island, especially during the late afternoon as evening approaches. The atmosphere is incredibly beautiful. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom, which is somewhat outdoor, added a unique touch to my stay.

What I didn't like was the crowd at the check-in counter upon my arrival, which might have been due to a shortage of staff. I had to carry my suitcase to the villa myself. The pathway to the villa is designed to look natural, made from uneven textured concrete. This could cause the wheels of my suitcase to wear out or get damaged quickly. However, I understand this is because it's a resort hotel. It might be better if the path to the villa had a smoother surface to prevent damage to suitcase wheels.

The beautiful gardens overlooking the Java Strait. Bed was very comfortable. Room temperature was comfortable. Tasty food at reasonable prices. Breakfast showcasing local foods. The view from the restaurant was lovely, especially at night. The swimming pool was a good size. The children's pool and play area looked good, with sunlounges for parents to use while the children played, separate to the adult pool.

No fridge in room. Soundproofing , noises coming from the guests returning to their rooms. A second chair in the room would be good The price of drinks was high, even soft drinks.

Ketapang Indah Hotel is a lovely hotel beautifully situated on the Straits . The views across to Bali are spectacular. Our room was very well appointed with a great bed an excellent bathroom, tea /coffee facilities, television etc. The hotel is set in extensive gardens which created a lovely atmosphere for their spectacular swimming pool and restaurant. We had many meals in the restaurant which were excellent and well priced. The staff throughout the hotel were helpful and friendly. The hotel manager Mr Lucky arranged several day trips for us. We enjoyed travelling around Banguwangi exploring the envitons of the nearby volcano, visiting a coffee plantation, attending a wonderful traditional performance as well as enjoying a drink at the Yacht Club. Our driver Sahib was very enthusiastic and accommodating. These excursions were a highlight of our stay.

Finding drivers and taxis is difficult. Having an app such Grab is very helpful as many people do not speak English.

An excellent hotel complex. Set in beautifully maintained gardens within its own security compound. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable, also very good shower. The breakfast selection was outstanding as was the evening Iftar buffet. The staff in the hotel were extremely welcoming and always attentive and helpful. It was a pleasure staying there and we'd have no hesitation whatsoever in booking again. Thank you.

We travelled with a newborn baby and this hotel could accommodate us well. We got a cot and stroller access everywhere. All staff extremely kind and helpful, beautiful garden, pool and views, restaurant was convenient, room good. Also tried the massage and it was great.

Sometimes there is smell of fish feed in the air, in general seeing the industry around. But hotel area is beautiful nonetheless.

One of the best places I have stayed . It was my birthday and also engaged day when we stayed there and I couldn’t be more happy with everything this amazing hotel has. My partner organise a surprise balloons and a cake and the hotel did the best job at making it all pretty. Next day for breakfast I had the staff coming to my table with another cake singing happy birthday. I’m so happy that we chose to stay here , thank you so much to everyone for helping making my day to be unforgettable. I will 100% come back.

We loved the large pool close to the beach. Bar area was nice. Villa was clean and comfortable and private. The grounds were clean and ideal for morning yoga and meditation. Breakfast buffet was very good. Nice mix of tourists from all over the world.

Location was a little far from the city center and not any food options close to the hotel other than the hotel itself. Staff were masked the whole time which created a feeling of separation from the guests. Hotel food was so-so. Not great and quite slow. Guests had to approach staff for poolside service. Staff did not tend well to the pool guests.

The perfect place from where to explore the wonderful Banyuwanji area, a stone's throw from Ijen, boat tours to Menjangan Island and many other fantastic places. The hotel is an oasis of calm and serenity in the middle of a beautiful and lush palms plantation facing the Bali strait. The rooms are beautiful, large, extremely clean and tastefully furnished and provide all the comforts. There is also a very nice restaurant where you'll be able to enjoy local (and international) delicacies straight on the ocean. The swimming pool is fantastic and offer incredible views on the strait. The staff is super professional and friendly.

The garden with the palm trees and trees is just stunning! The pool is nice and an excellent experience with low flying bets during sunset. Nice music. The balcony of the room with garden view has beach view too. Rich selection at the breakfast buffet. Nice and friendly staff. The rooms are quiet whereas some cottages on the South side have the sound of the call for prayers from a nearby mosque and some in the centre the loud ventilation noise of the kitchen.

The air condition did not work properly. After an attempt to repair by the staff, there was no change. Hot water was only lukewarm. As there is a shortage of hangers, best to hang the towel outside where they don’t drey though (high humidity). The black sand beach has potential. A lot of plastic is there and swimming is not allowed due to strong currents. If a part close to the shore is fenced with a net, that could give swimmers the opportunity to dive into sea water without reaching the currents and being annoyed by plastic.

We needed a short break during an active tour of Java with frequent waking up before dawn. The hotel met our expectations perfectly. It is beautifully situated among palm trees, by the sea overlooking Bali. Great swimming pool and pool bar, very good food in the restaurant. Rooms clean and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We had a not so good experience with a shared-tour to Ijen organized from the hotel. We left the hotel in 2 people, picking up people from other hotels along the way. In the end we went as part of a very large group, probably 15 people if not more, with poor organization, constantly having to wait for someone, barely made it to breakfast (although we know the hotel was ready with a breakfast box just in case, which we appreciate) .
