As a backpacker I stayed here in 1993 and - after more than 30 years - returning to Beach Guesthouse felt like stepping back into the good old nineties. Same beautiful spot right at the lake, same amiable family that runs the place and still the same positive vibe. It was great to be back here. The rooms are also still very basic, so if you're looking for luxury, this isn't a hotel for you. However, if you are looking for warm hospitality and a relaxing atmosphere in an idyllic setting, then this might be the place you are dreaming of. The adjacent Bagoes Café 'n' Resto serves delicious food, delicious juices and cold beers. And as you gaze across the calm waters of Lake Maninjau, you realize that life isn't so bad after all... Staff is super friendly and can help to arrange your onward transport. Motorbikes and bicycles are for rent if you want to go around the lake. Good to know that the lake is a popular getaway for local tourists and day trippers at weekends, so it can get a bit more crowdy (and noisy) in the guesthouse. During the week you probably have the place almost to yourself and it’s just peace and harmony.

Beach Guest House has a fantastic location directly at the beautiful Maninjau Lake. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They made us feel at home right from the start. And cooked us lovely food. Rooms are basic, but we had everything we needed. And with such beautiful surroundings you spent little time indoors. And nothing can match an early morning swim right at your doorstep!

This place is very beautiful and idyllic. There’s rooms on the lakeside with amazing views at any time of the day. There’s a great bar and restaurant with good food. The staff is very nice and helpful. You can rent a motorbike to go around the lake. Highly recommend staying here!

The location of Beach Guest House is fantastic; next to the lake. The staff is also very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home. The food served at Bagoes Cafe is lovely; lots of choice (also for vegetarians) and affordable. Rooms are basic but had everything we needed since we spent most time outside exploring the beautiful area.

Super nice location, has push bikes and scooters to higher. Super friendly staff with a bit of English. Good food not too expensive. Very nice view, peaceful area. Room real nice, bathroom okay, only squat toilet and cold shower. Not too bad. Water also available

The room is very moldy. The pillow smelled really bad. The toilet is really small but it's better than a squat toilet 😆

Just after arrival we were invited to visit a Minangkabau wedding around the corner! What a unique experience! Our room with a tiny terrace in front facing the lake was all we needed. The offered food was simple but tasty.

There was an odd smell in some parts of the outside area.

Good value for money. Location was good with nice view of the lake. Food was amazing!! Was able to rent a scooter to see the entirety of the lake.

Simple but very good accomodation. Clean. Fifi the Host IS very friendly and a wonderful Cook. Being located next to the Lake makes IT a Special place.
