My stay at Kembang Kuning Cottages in Tetebatu was truly enchanting. From the moment I arrived, I was embraced by the warm hospitality of the lovely family who runs the homestay, making me feel right at home. The cottage I stayed in was rustic, yet charming, clean and comfortable. The room came with a private bathroom, providing all the essentials for a pleasant stay. There is not hot water, but that is not too uncommon in the countryside here. One of the most memorable aspects of my stay was the delicious homemade meals prepared by the family. Every dish was crafted with love and fresh local ingredients, offering an authentic taste of Lombok’s culinary heritage. The banana pancakes for breakfast were great and so were the spring rolls! Kembang Kuning Cottages offers incredible value for the price. The rates are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the accommodations and the exceptional service. It’s the ideal place for travelers who are looking to experience the genuine warmth and culture of Lombok without spending a fortune. The family also arranged several fantastic activities and I choose to make coconut oil and roast coffee. It was a fascinating and hands-on experience that allowed me to learn about local traditions and crafts. The family’s guidance and patience made it all the more enjoyable. If you are looking for an authentic experience in Lombok, I promise you won’t be disappointed staying here. I do not have any “dislikes” about the homestay. Fellow travelers should however set the right expectations before going. This is a homestay in a Muslim, rural village. There will be prayer calls throughout the day/night, roosters/chickens running around the yard and no 5 star hotel facilities. If this will bother you, I suggest you find another accommodation.

This was one of my favourite places I stayed in the whole of Indonesia! The rooms are basic but very big, clean and comfortable. The family are so so welcoming and can not do enough to make you feel at home. They offer amazing local experiences and the food is lovely. Very social and absolutely perfect if you want a truly cultural stay to learn more about Lombok and the village. Chris, Vandini & Ahmed are always around to ask questions and can help with absolutely anything. Thank you, I will always remember my stay here!

Very special stay with my friends and partner. From check in we were really well received and the host is always pay attention to our needs. We were craving for village duck meal and they literally made it happen off the menu. Really amazed by this experience - we never expected that the host will do above and beyond for our request. We feel very welcome and part of the family even tho we stay only for one night weekend trip. Really recommended for people who are looking for authentic Lombok village experience.

Please note that this accommodation is located in the Muslim village, so you will hear the call to prayer at around 4 am. If you are a light sleeper, you will need to bring earplugs.

The area is really nice and relaxing, green rice fields and palm trees all over the place. Because of the greenery, the weather is really nice there, you do not feel hot. There are some great waterfalls nearby and the next village has some shops and places to eat. The host and staff were really nice and helpful, they can arrange scooter rentals, transportation or activities. Sometimes we would just sit there and they would bring us local food to try for free. Also the breakfast was delicious with many options. For this price, this accomodation is an excellent deal.

The bathroom could be a little better maintained. And there would be a place for a wardrobe or self, to put your stuff.

We received a warm welcome on arrival, and told to relax and enjoy a cuppa before going to our rooms. The homestay is located among the wider family’s house so you really get an insight into culture and living here. Most of my interactions were with Aldi, who was home from his studies for a week. He made sure we were always looked after, always offered a drink and he accompanied us on a tour of the local waterfall and villages. Aldi shared lots of information on culture in Tetebatu and Lombok which I really appreciated. As in previous reviews, nothing was pushed on us we were welcome to have a look at the available tours they offered, and choose whether to eat at the homestay or not. The food here is really affordable and good. I had the noodle soup which was generous and a papaya curry which was even more generous! The village where the homestay is is small but ever so friendly. We were greeted everytime we walked passed someone and in shops had long conversations with local owners. If you like a beer with a view we’d recommend walking to the nearby Cosy Corner (who are also very friendly). Would absolutely recommend staying here - thanks to Aldi and the family for their hospitality.

While this homestay is very simple, we had a wonderful experience which was great value for money. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and keen to ensure you felt like family. They gave great recommendations and the food - breakfast and lunch/dinner - was simple but delicious local dishes. We paid to go on a tour of the local rice paddies, waterfalls and monkey forest with the hosts who were extremely friendly and informative, making every effort to make the experience enjoyable. Overall, this is a great homestay to get an authentic Lombok experience.

The room could get quite hot so a thinner sheet would have been helpful.

If you want an authentic experience with warm and welcoming family then this is the place for you. We booked 4 nights and initially thought it would be too long but it worked out perfectly. There are plenty of activities to do that are arranged by the family. We did a tour of the rice fields and rice terraces, coconut oil making and coffee roasting, village tour (bamboo weaving, pottery and sarong weaving - which you can get involved with) and a cooking class. The family could not do enough for us during our stay, especially Aldi! He took us to a sunrise and a beautiful view point of mount Rinjani at 5.30am. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to anyone!

Offers free water refills but wouldn’t be replaced straight away so would need to buy from the shop. We didn’t know whether it was to do with a supply issue. Call to prayer is from 5am and there is a mosque very close to the home stay. This wasn’t a problem for us but I would recommend bringing earplugs if you like to sleep in.

I had an incredible stay here! I came for 2 nights and I did 2 tours - the authentic villages tour and the waterfalls and rice paddies tour. They were both led by lovely young men who are members of the family and spoke wonderful English. They were the least touristy tours I have taken in indonesia - in most of the places we were the only people. I never felt like I was being scammed or ripped off just like I was being shown around someone's real life. I ate there both nights and all the food was delicious (papaya curry was a highlight). Accomodation is simple and the beds were clean as I expected from the photos and price.

I had a truly wonderful stay at this Homestay! The family who runs the place were very kind and attentive, always making sure I felt welcome and cared for. They prepared delicious meals that were amazing :) I felt incredibly comfortable throughout my entire visit, and I would definitely come back again. However, I would like to note for first-time visitors to Indonesia that it’s good to be aware that insects and geckos may occasionally find their way into the rooms and due to the iron roof it can be very loud when it rains. Overall, my experience was fantastic, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a authentic and inviting stay!

- I didn’t have a running water at all, but after I told them they fixed it. The second day same story. - I had a bucket - the house it’s exactly next to the mosque so it is very very loud early in the morning and during the day for the praying times. If you don’t mind this, I guess it’s OK.
