Lovely front location as you arrive on ferry from mainland.

Restaurant and bar staff need training. While individually they’re not bad… and one or two are very pleasant…overall it seems like NO one is in charge and NO one has been trained in customer service or general restaurant/bar skills. This is our 2nd year visiting The Royal Valentia and sadly nothing has improved with regards service.

We were welcomed at the Royal Valentia Hotel by Brid at reception, like we were family returning home. The hotel built in 1833 remains comfortable, clean and convenient to everything on Valentia Island. My wife and I enjoyed both breakfast and dinner and were impressed both by the selection, quality and tast of our meals. But what made our stay memorable was the reception staff of Brid and Mags. They both went out of their way to make our stay at the hotel perfect. Brid made sure we knew the things to see in the area and recommended a phenomenal water tour by Kerry Aqua Terra that we highly recommend to all visitors. When we had difficulty with out TV reception, Mags contacted her husband to troubleshoot our problem. He solved our problem after others had failed! Never before have we ever experienced the spouse of a hotel employee improving our stay. We stayed for several days and Brid & Mags made us feel like we were at a small family owned B&B rather than at a hotel. Thanks again from Tom & Sheila

The ambiance of the hotel and excellent staff make it a very inviting hotel

Would have liked a view. Our room had a side view felt enclosed. Bathroom not cleaned on second day no fresh towels to replace used ones .

It was a wonderful hotel. Almost 200 years old but the rooms have been updated. There were no elevators but the stairs weren’t horrible. The restaurant in the lobby was great for breakfast and dinner and the staff was wonderful. The offerings in the bar were impressive too.

We weren’t able to get the TV to work in our room, but it wasn’t a huge deal. We didn’t fly to Ireland to watch TV. The rooms don’t have air conditioning so if it happens to be a rare hot day, it can get heated up, but they have fans in every room.

From the minute we walked through the doors of this immaculate hotel it was 5 star ! We were traveling on motorcycles and were given a place to park them right at the front . The staff were amazing 👏 rooms also perfect . BUT ! The food ? I can not state enough how good the food was ! Absolutely impeccable 👌 the experience as a whole was 10 / 10 can't say a bad word about the place .........oh and need I say , the bar is pretty special too and a savage pint of plain ! Well done Royal Valentia we will defo be back !

Absolutely nothing !

Breakfast was incredible. Availability off the charts. Staff SO accommodating! Truly, Mags and Bree made our stay!! They were the most incredible front desk staff ever! I will say a couple of the bartenders weren’t as friendly or accommodating but everyone else made up for that

Just the couple of bartenders that seemed annoyed by our presence. We are Americans so kind of expected that treatment in general. Didn’t feel that way from ABY other staff but the bartenders

This is your only decent option if you want to stay in Valentia. Fear not; the place is excellent in terms of service and accommodation. The restaurant will also be your only option off-season, which is not a problem as it was great!

Don't be an internet addict in Valentia. It is an island, and despite this being the first place to connect America and Europe with a telecommunication cable, time is a bit behind today. The quality of the local internet depends directly on the weather. Staff told us that the previous week, during the heavy weather, they also had an all-night electricity cut, so get ready for everything!

Very nice restaurant and pub inside the hotel. The corridors of the hotel look colorful and there are very pictures on the walls some very talented and good pictures in the bar. I have been planning to stay in this hotel for a long time. Because great location and the hotel looked attractive from the outside. Beautiful staircase, historic place. It seemed that I would climb the stairs and a cozy room with a beautiful view would be waiting for me.. I finally made up my mind. I booked the weekend. We came with the family...

We were given a corner room with an ugly bunk bed and a view of the dismal parking lot and the first floor roof. For 130€ instead of the dream of a cozy room with two beds as we expected. We had a good time, because we were planning a nice vacation but instead of a dream we just got a room for the night. I'm sure they have beautiful rooms. Maybe we're just unlucky 😉

One of the best hotels I've ever been to, it is so cozy and comfortable, a wonderful well kept old building, with an amazing staircase and entrance, you can read the history of it in their guest info book, it's very interesting. The room was very clean and equipped with all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. We even had an extra fan heater to use in the room. The restaurant is nice and makes you want to stay and chat for long sipping a pint or tea. The staff is kind and efficient. It is a very small village and there's not much to do except driving around the beautiful island, but the hotel makes it worth a visit just for a "staycation" relaxing and chilling. I definitely want to come back, and I will take a room with the sea view, as the pier in the front is beautiful.

The vent in the room is a bit overwhelming, it was blowing wind during the day, I know we happened to be there during the storm, an exception, but the wind was too much into the room making it colder and also noisy. Nothing too bad though, we enjoyed our stay.
