It feels totally isolated and deserted. You hear noone and nothing when the restaurant is closed and everyone has gone home. The room, which seems a renovated outbuilding is very spacious and well appointed. Good aircon which is needed during the hot months. It is nice to sit outside in the bar area, and chill. You have a full view of Castel del Monte at all times.

Because we do not speak Italian, the welcome was very unclear. We did not know where/how to check in and were taken to the wrong place to have a bite to eat after a gruelling journey. It is not clear that there is a very expensive restaurant, plus a bar where they serve snacks and light foods. Breakfast is fruit and cake, apparently standard in Italy. We could have done with some comfy seats outside our room rather than uncomfortable cabaret chairs.

The property was clean and the staff were exceptional. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. Ricardo was a fantastic waiter who spoke English and helped us with translation. In the evenings it was vibrant and seemed to be the place to go and have a drink and eat. We will definitely come back for a weekend visit.

The Montegusto property is beautiful with an amazing of the view of the Castel. The rooms are updated and spacious. We appreciated the quiet and privacy of our stay. Although there was a language barrier with the staff for breakfast, it was delicious and such a wonderful experience (they knew it was our honeymoon and gave some great words of wisdom).

We wished the property had all the amenities that are mentioned when in peak season. Unfortunately, we were not able to use the bikes and the restaurant was not open for dinner during our time there.

The staff was amazing (reception and cafe) and the breakfast prepared by Angela was great 👍. Beautiful location from where you can admire the Castle.

Just a little more of maintenance in the bathroom.

Great location. Room was great and stylish. Equipped in all required elements. Perfect breakfast and tasty espresso!! Friendly and very helpful staff.

The room was very clean and comfortable, the owners and staff were so friendly and helpful. Our breakfast was amazing! You can walk from the property to the castle. We will be back!

The breakfast was Outstanding! The service was excellent, the coffee and food delicious.

Better mattress

The location is fantastic, just below Castel del Monte (about 5 mins away by car). Restaurant is great, very good food (and wood fired pizza too), at normal prices and normal sized portions, in beautiful surroundings (outside with the castle in the background). The restaurant is only open at night. The bar is also very nice, popular with the young and fashionable of Bari/Barletta, and a decent breakfast we served there too. By the way, you can drive up to the castle and park even if someone tries to tell you the road is closed, to send you to another car park much further away - say you are going to the Taverna Sforza (they have a car park next to the castle for €3).

The only issue was the lack of any shade or sun umbrella for the table outside the room - no shade at all during the day, and too hot to sit outside in summer. You have to go to the bar area instead - but this is not a problem.

Absolutely beautiful. So well designed. Bar had a fab vibe in the evening with lots of locals. Very chic.

Beds were maybe a bit firm.
