Da Scilla has a quaint old world charm about it when you enter this Studio kind of clean living space. Totally unexpected. Lots of lovely hand made items to make the place homely. The dated furniture and decor, the antique side board with sweet and savoury goodies, tea and coffee items. Cheese and ham and yogurt and water and milk and soft drink in the fridge all thought out for a weary traveller. The whole set up, transports. you to a different time. Da Scilla is run by Scilla and her son Frederico. Lovely hosts, there to greet you on arrival. Always there to help and ensure you are comfortable. We had issues with train cancellations due to floods. However Frederico who is a college student, was able to give us detailed directions via whatsap and on phone, on how to get to his place. Bus stops are within walking distance and so also restaurants near by if you are the exploring kind. And last but not the least the breakfast box kept outside on the garden table. It’s the icing on the cake. If this is the kind of style and hosting you wish for, then it’s a must see and stay place.

whats not to like

Da Scilla is super clean and large, with lots of space in the kitchen/living room and in the big bedroom. Neat, well put together and comfortable. The breakfast spread was also fantastic.

If you have a long car, parking might be a bit tight. We were on a motorbike and were given ample space.

Nice spacious room with lots of vintage furniture,little fridge and anything you need for a comfort stay. Every morning the owner brought us fresh breakfast in a beautiful basket🤩

Nothing

We arrived and there was no one there. It was in a very sketchy area. We tried to call and were unable to reach anyone. Our Taxi driver even tried calling in case it was our phone not connecting. He was wonderful and eventually after not being able to make contact recommended Hotel Columbia which was reasonable, clean and near the cruise port.
