Residenza La Torre is an Albergo Diffuso and, as such, our superior one-bedroom apartment was essentially a small house; no complaints there. This was our third stay in Santo Stefano and was the best yet; it lacked nothing in comparison to the Albergo Diffuso Sextantio (where we had previously stayed) and was a good deal cheaper, so definitely cost-effective. The kitchen was stocked and replenished with a good selection of breakfast foods (bread, fruit, cheese, prosciutto, pastries and more) and also had a Nespresso machine with milk frother and, crucially, a moka pot with good ground coffee. The office/reception is a few streets away in the centre of the village, but it’s a very small village and so was no problem. And when we did have a problem; our door key snapped off in the lock; I just called on Whatsapp and the guy on duty came right over with a spare key and was able to remove the stub of the old one. The first time we stayed in Santo Stefano was 2013 and it’s definitely busier than back then, but that’s a good thing being that the whole point of the Albergo Diffuso was to bring life back to an abandoned village. And it’s all relative; staying here for a few days still feels like stepping back in time to a pace and quality of life that’s a joy to experience surrounded by the beauty of this green heart of Italy.

This is a spotless and spacious room that is actually in a castle tower. It is very quaint and yet still fully functional for an overnight stay. Claudia helped us so much in finding the place and making us comfortable. We came in January and most things were closed, yet she was able to get her friend to open his restaurant and serve us dinner. Where can you get such exceptional service as this? Our stay here was truly memorable.

Just be aware that steps and/or light climbing is involved getting in and out of the tower.

La Torre is an unbelievable location in an old building as part of the ensemble of Santo Stefano di Sessanio. All you need for breakfast is provided and filled up every day by our lovely host Claudia. La Torre is perfect starting point for hiking and sightseeing in the fantastic nature around. We got also very good recommendations for restaurants.

Nothing; the only thing one has to be aware of is that you stay in a traditional building with small windows. Thus it is not flooded with light.

The location of the hotel is very special, though it would be good to have views/ more information about outside areas prior to booking, as this would have effected our choice of room. The village is pretty and interesting and we enjoyed being able to go hiking in the park without needing to use the car. The room was very well equipped, also with a good kitchen area, making it easy to cater for ourselves when we chose, though restaurants locally are limited.

It is quite complicated to find this place, and also to arrive at the room (as they are dispersed through a very old village with only pedestrian access). Parking is necessarily at a distance, making it hard to transport bags. There isn't really a central area for the hotel either, which would be an asset - for instance to get a drink/ snack or more information on walks and local activities. Whilst every effort was made to provide for breakfast, some fresh products would have been a definite improvement.

Apartment was super clean, we were early to arrive and host allowed us to leave our bags while cleaners were still there. Very gracious hosts!

The personnel was very hospitable and friendly. The village is a jewell, a medieval hamlet with a labyrinth of narrow alleys and a charming population of cats. Very quiet and almost out of time. The apartment was very traditional with a fireplace and wood ceiling. Very cozy and quiet. Parking was not easy (we visited in a busy day of the Easter holidays) but we were helped by the reception and finally found perfect spot. They also helped us booking a nice restaurant close by. Part of the village is under restorations following the recent earthquake but a large part of it is restored and fully justify the visit.

It is a place where you have to leave the car outside the village (there is a public parking) and walk with the trolleys on cobblestone streets. Not necessarily a minus (actually someone can see it as a plus) but for people "less in shape" it can be a bit more tiresome than more standard accommodations, albeit the village is definitely worth the hassle.

Gorgeous place. Very comfortable. Authentic

Shower a bit small, but it's understandable. You are staying in a medieval village

Very spacious, all the modern comforts within medieval stone walls.

Better communication about the address of parking when arriving at the property.
