This was a great find. Our room was comfortable, unique and the location couldn't be better. She registered our car right away and had great advice on what to see, where to park. The rooftop garden is so relaxing.... and the views are spectacular. A bit of a climb to roof...but well worth it. Breakfast was more food than I could eat and you had many choices which was nice. Marta couldn't have been a better hostess and I would stay here again. Aside from stay, Sulmona itself is such a pretty city with such history. Worth a visit!

This is a charming property in the heart of Sulmona, a very walkable and accessible town in Abruzzo. Our hostess and her staff are wonderful people who bend over backwards to ensure your comfort. This is also their family home, so they make you feel welcome as special houseguests. Breakfasts and other time spent on their rooftop patio was perfect…relaxing and with great views of the city and surrounding areas.

We asked for a room on the ground floor, which was perfect for us. The room was a bit compact, which took some strategizing to arrange our luggage and so forth. On the other hand, we then also has access to the lovely ground level courtyard, which also was nice.

Everything was terrific. What a charming B&B! We stayed 4 nights at Il Marchese del Grillo and we enjoyed every minute. Marta, Marianna & Mary (the other Mariana) were just lovely. They were so attentive, friendly and helpful. The rooms are really lovely and comfortable, but to us the highlight was the rooftop dining area that affords views of Sulmona and the surrounding mountains. Just gorgeous!! We enjoyed a traditional Italian breakfast there every morning and relaxed there in the evening with some wine and cheese. It has to be experienced to really appreciate it. If we ever return to Sulmona, we will definitely stay there again. We miss it, and the ladies already!

The property is located in the Sulmona town center and there is a public parking area a short distance away from the B&B. The B&B is part of a historic building and our room, lovely and well kept, retained these features of a bygone era. Likewise for the indoor breakfast area. There is also a roof terrace, accessible only to guests at any time of the day, where one can enjoy quite a view of Sulmona with surrounding mountains in the background. Both the host, Marta, and her staff were professional but quite friendly and available to accommodate the guests' needs.

The room was spacious, very elegantly furnished and quite unique in its architecture with a double rib vault ceiling and stone walls. The ground floor access made it a bit more exposed to the coming and going of the tenants of the building but it always feel like a cosy nook. Breakfast was well assorted and served in a lovely little room once equipped with cold cuts and offal hanging racks. The rooftop terrace, where we understood breakfast is served in the summertime, is absolutely spectacular in the views it offers and represents something quite unique in Sulmona. Marta was a very good host and made us feel at home before we even arrived to the location.

We loved everything but if there is anything we would feel like suggesting is maybe to provide even some basic slippers to the guests of the ground floor room as the shower and bathroom floors are made of cobblestones and tend to be quite cold and humid during winter.

The super cool atmosphere in this gorgeous historic building. The rooftop view was fantastic and so was having a wonderful breakfast up there! Hostess was great and super helpful with getting to know Sulmona as well as visiting the surrounding mountain villages (Scanno was a highlight). Great visit to Rapone confetti store, Buonvento restaurant and drinks at JAMM'MO and Italian Bar at opposite ends of Corso Ovidio.

Marta was a gracious host and made us feel welcome upon arrival and throughout our stay. We had plenty of privacy, and were able to enjoy a delicious breakfast each morning with some of the other guests. The location is perfect for walking anywhere in the village, also for free and safe parking nearby. The charming town itself, the beautiful surrounding area and Marta, along with her attentive and helpful staff, made for a wonderful stay.

Nothing could have been better!

We loved Marta's beautiful B&B so much on our first visit that we immediately booked to stay again! She is an exceptional host and her house stunning and historic. We were offered a choice of rooms, all of which were lovely and very different - all well equipped and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and served on the exquisite roof terrace with the most superb views - plus the bonus of the sound of many church bells. Marta offered us a most friendly welcome and provided us with plenty of information about Sulmona, which was very useful. It's a lovely town and well worth a visit - especially to stay at Il Marchese Del Grillo!

The view from the breakfast area , amazing . Just be aware that there are no elevators in the accomodation and it is a good climb up the stairs to the room and breakfast but it is so worth it . Incredible rooftop view of Sulmona and cathedral. The staff assist in bringing our luggage to our room , the position was great to shops, markets, the piazza . Everything was amazing I will return

Superb B & B. Marta and staff ensure a comfortable stay. Delicious breakfast served on the terrace overlooking the surrounding mountains. But what stood out the most for me was the fact that Marta rescued me from being stranded at the bus stop after a miscommunication with the taxi driver. It's the small things that count!
