The hotel was beautiful, and i loved the multiuse lobby where you can eat, hang out have a drink or coffee, or just people watch in a beautiful environment. My room was very nice, bed comfortable, water pressure great. The roof top restaurant was beautiful with excellent food.

I don’t understand why people who design hotel rooms cannot place enough electric charging stations within easy reach. In this case, as so often happens, there was the initial hunt for outlets. Here they were hidden below the bedside table. That is my only, and quite minor, issue.

Really nice well appointed room with excellent choice of furniture which was apparent throughout the hotel. Great shower that was both hot and powerful. We enjoyed the in room service with food that was of a very high standard with the indoor restaurant helping to promote a feeling of being at home sitting on your sofa surrounded by lovely furniture, books, sculptures and lamps of all shapes and sizes. The swimming pool was adequate with great city roof views, providing a nice relaxing atmosphere and service when not driving around LA! The adjacent roof bar and restaurant was also a very nice place to be at night, albeit probably better in the summer months when its a bit warmer. An additional nice touch was the free coffee and muffins in one of the lounges downstairs every morning.

Its worth noting you are not really located next to the best beaches if that's what you are after, such as Hermosa in the south and the many surfing Malibu beaches further north. Santa Monica is close but certainly not the most charming of those available. LA is a big place so expect a bit of driving, but thats what adds to the charm and atmosphere IMO.

The hotel is obviously very beautiful. The room was spacious and the bathroom was really big. Really clean and great service from the concierge as they have a phone you can text any questions to while you are staying with them, for example we headed out one day and wanted our room made up so I just texted them and it was done. The rooftop of the hotel has a great bar and restaurant that is very busy most nights of the week. It was busy on the Monday night we went up there. The restaurant and bar are open to the public also. The food was really good and fresh, but quite expensive. The pool area is really nice and chill, with lots of sun beds and sunscreen and water for all guests. we really enjoyed our stay here.

The location, while being in Santa Monica is a little random there is nothing else really around the hotel, however that is why it has a good rooftop restaurant and bar and ground floor restaurant so in fact you don't really have to leave.

Excellent location, great design and restaurants. Fully equipped for fitness with a professional gym and yoga studio, as well as a great spa and sauna, cold plunge.

Wellness area requires a pricey day pass on top the room fee. Understandable for outside walkins, but less so for hotel guests, particularly if you book treatments at the spa. Still ok as the amenities are of great quality.

Beautifully decorated hotel. The interiors are absolutely stunning with such attention to detail. The rooms are comfortable, although a little on the small side. The restaurants are also incredible, as is the gym. It was our second stay here and we would definitely return.

Rooms were a little small. Not all the staff were very tolerant of our two young children, although many were.

We spent a quick evening in Santa Monica before returning to Seattle and couldn’t have been happier with our choice to stay at Santa Monica Proper. The hotel itself is beautifully designed and their attention to detail is apparent in every corner of the space. Aesthetics aside, I had the most comfortable sleep at this hotel (even better than at home) and now want to know all about their bedding selection. Location and staff were also wonderful, and my only regret is not visiting their bar or restaurant.

Loved everything about it.

The interior design is next level to anything you’ve ever stayed in before. Every detail is incredible and design can be found everywhere from how your room key is presented through to the thoughtful gestures like complimentary bottled water each day. The staff are super friendly, housekeeping was prompt and thorough. Overall incredible.

Only one tiny negative was the minibar prices were extortionate.

The interior design is the best part of the hotel. You can’t stop taking pictures of every room and every piece of furniture in this property .

The bathroom slippers weren’t great. For the rate one pays at the hotel, it would’ve been great to have more comfortable slippers. I did ask the property to do something special for my wife since she’s a huge Kelly Wearstler fan but they didn’t although they texted me agreeing to do something .

Great room (premier double queen):L elegant, spacious, with very nice bathroom. Good lighting Very nice (and also casual) dining room, and fire place area. Also very nice and large "work space" behind the front desk. Quiet. Not in the middle of traffic, and yet close enough.

Shower drain was clogged so kept flooding. Thought housekeeping would of picked it up each day but they didnt. Location was a bit further away from the main action than thought.
