Everything was perfect. The room is super clean and in the traditional Japanese style which I loved. Very cozy and comfortable. I was lucky enough to see Mt. Fuji on a clear day and the view from the room was priceless. The staff was very nice, friendly and professional. I also liked that the area wasn’t touristy at all, I could enjoy the view at the lake without a crowd. Highly recommend this hotel!

Clean. The hotel is so close to Bus stop No.86 Fujimiso (Kodaki fuji view point) of Blue line bus. The room is bigger than most room in Tokyo. Fuji view from the room is superb, can't believe my eyes. The staff is lovely. Peace. Best place for coming for rest, leisure.

Location is a bit far from Kawaguchiko station but still can go by public sightseeing bus (better check the timetable and plan the time before coming because the interval time of each bus is 1-2 hr) If you drive your car by yourself is quite more comfortable. Actually traveling by bus from Kawaguchiko station is not too hard to reach this hotel.

The location is quite far, and there aren't many buses that go to the hotel.

Location was fabulous, spectacular views with easy bus accessibility to attractions we were keen to see - for us, outdoorsy things like the Ice Cave, Wind Cave, Bat Cave, Aokigahara forest. . Room was spacious, view from room was insane! Onsen facilities were great. Was quiet and relaxing.

If you don’t arrive on time for the bus to take you to accommodation. We had to rely on taxi as timetable was limited. Taxi was a bit expensive - we were travelling with a child so our timeline didn’t go exactly as planned :/ From an accessibility/mobility perspective was ok, only a few steps to navigate - probably not ideal for a wheelchair users though. Location was slightly remote (which personally I don’t really see as a problem), but if being around heaps of dining/shopping options is super important for you, this may not be the best fit.

The staff is nice, I left my Watch in the hotel, and they patiently helped me deliver my watch to my friend who is living in Japan just in 2 days !! Thank you!!!! The food is good, especially the quality of beef is high! I also like their simple breakfast. Oh I also noticed that they renewed some floor’s rooms! This was my second time here, i would say, they are getting better! Btw, they hired a staff who can speak English ( at least from last 1.5 years ago, I did not see. No problem with talking to them this time!) They have the best view just right in front of Mt. Fuji! Unfortunately, I didn’t see it this time since the weather is quite cloudy!!

I guess, the hotspring temperature is too hight for me 🥲 this time haha.

The room is much specious than I expected. The owner is nice and still wait for us even its after check-in time. We have four tatami for a family of four. The hot spa is so good and two free massage chairs is so relaxing. Traditional breakfast is fabulous. The best thing is you can see Mt Fuji right from the room. Shoji lake just in front of the hotel. But better with a car go there particularly during night.

Outside of the hotel is a little bit creepy during night as my husband went outside to the vending machine after we check in around 8:15pm. Actually there is vending machine within the building. It’s like the drink was holding back by someone or something and damaged with a hole when came out the machine. I guess it’s just lack of maintenance. Kids also say it’s a little of creepy too. I think probably the hotel opened for years and the decor is bit of old traditional way. Anyway, I like it!

Fantastic views from the room, able to see Mt Fuji and Lake Shoji through the room. However, note that buses from Kawaguchiko to Lake Shoji only run 4 times a day and may be very crowded during peak periods. If travelling with many luggages, taking a taxi (~8000yen) may be more worth the time and effort. Otherwise, the views and lesser crowds are worth it. Room was very spacious as well.

Do note that room reservations made via booking.com do not include breakfast nor dinner. American or Japanese breakfast are available. These can be purchased during check in as mentioned in other reviews. Kaiseki dinner set (5500yen) must be ordered at least one day in advance, so we were only able to order it for our 2nd dinner. There are no combinis in walkable distance, so do take note to prepare in advance and purchase from Kawaguchiko or any previous destinations before heading to the hotel. Not an issue for us, but may be applicable to other guests.

The room had one of the most beautiful sunset views I have EVER seen( I cannot transfer photos because my phone is having difficulties). The room has a spacious bathroom with all the amenities you could ask for, all of which smell great and do their jobs well! The room had two futon-style floor mattresses that lay upon mats. The beds are very comfortable and do the job. I read that some people found the room to smell and feel a bit dusty, and while that is partly true, there was a very comfortable feel to it, it felt like visiting a grandparent. They offer free bicycles for an hour or so, which is enough time to get a lap around the lake and take in the views; my only note is CHECK YOUR BICYCLE FOR SPIDERS. Halfway through my ride, one decided to visit me and climb onto my hand. I almost flew off the bike because of the size of the guy, but as long as you do not freak out, they are mostly curious and will not bite. I did not try the food, but I overheard some guests compliment it. There is a small mart about 3 miles away, on the opposite side of the lake, that has all of the convenience store things you might need, so if you feel like you're missing anything, go and visit it! If you do wake up early, which I recommend, make sure to get on the bus ride at the front of the hotel ( a bit to the left) to make it down to Fujiyoshida where you can explore so much of the local scenery!

Spider on the bike gave me a heart attack but other than that nothing else.

The location was amazing. This was the only place where we could see Mount Fuji, all other popular lakes had clouds during our entire stay. The food (both breakfast and dinner) were very cheap and amazing. Shoji hotel had better breakfast and dinner than our 4 star hotel in the Japanese alps. Next to that, the sleeping mats and pillows were very comfy. I finally had a good night sleep. The accommodation also had an onsen, massage chairs and a table tennis. You could relax and entertain at the same time. Great value for money, I would come back again!

There was nothing I didn’t like.

The room we had was new with a view of mt Fuji and the lake. The food was good and affordable. The area is not busy with lot of tourists. You can chose between Japanese breakfast and the American breakfast. The American breakfast was a nice break from all the traditionnal breakfast we had. The onsen was clean and very hot. There is a Mt. Fuji gallery on the 3rd floor

The hotel was overall cold from bad insulation. A lot of people taking picture of the hotel because of the Japanese Netflix serie Hot Spot.
