i liked the room the way it is, for me it was quite charming.. wet areas were renovated and comfortable enough.. breakfast was okay but i really liked the dinner.. Sunawara-san is an excellent cook and I was looking forward to his dishes every day ^^

even though i asked for a quite room, my room was not quite at all and every morning housekeepers were extremely noisy.. since the check out time is 10am i believe it would be much nicer to start cleaning the rooms and common areas after that time.. only 1 or 2 other rooms were occupied during my stay that's why i found it a bit disrespectful to start cleaning while guests are in their rooms =(

The Ryokan is just the most intimite and authentic place you can find! You imagine yourself being in an old black and white movie, the wood, the furniture everything so delicate and Well taken care of. And the best breakfast with the tastiest modo-soup.

I liked everything!!!

We loved the traditional Japanese ryokan style where we slept on futon in a tatami room. The food was delicious and included amazing sashimi at every dinner. The staff made great efforts to also make Japanese meals that my five-year-old son would eat and enjoy. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The surroundings are extremely beautiful with the caves and Gebikei Gorge worth a visit. There are also other nice things to see like the castle and pokemon train (you need to book this in advance as it is small and busy). Having some Japanese language is very useful, but everyone also spoke English to us which we appreciated so much. Thank you!

Visitors should be aware that the trains aren't very regular to the town so to be careful to plan. Around New Year some places (like restaurants) are closed so take care to plan if there is something you want to visit.

breakfast and location were terrific.. we had a very tasty evening meal at the property.lovely to be able to walk easily around the town, to see tourist destinations. enjoyed being in a smaller village location

Breakfast and dinner were excellent! The food was superb, fresh and delicious and nice presented by the staff. We also liked the plum wine. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and very clean place. We enjoyed our staying there.

Lavish and traditional breakfast. We enjoyed the experience very much.

Having access to some plates and bowls may have been easier since there are not many places to eat and we brought food from the supermarket to eat at the room.

The staff and chef were extremely hospitable and nice. The food was amazing, especially the muscat and pear cake! It’s one of the best I’ve had.

The room was a little cold, but the staff Misato was eager to help me turn on extra heater to make my stay comfortable.

The Dinner and breakfast was really nice and quality food cooked and curated. comparing with another hotel where we had paid more, the dinner and breakfast at Kajiyabekkan Ramakkoro Yamaneko was definitely better tasting. Maybe the weather and temperature dropped drastically last night because of snow today, we felt really cold in our room, especially in the area of the toilet and bathroom. The room we stayed were a tad small for 4 of us. After putting the futon out, we had no space to walk except on each other’s futon. But we all did sleep well through the night. We will recommend this place if you love good food and don’t mind the room.

Such a hidden gem. Lovely staff, the dinner and breakfast was so delicious. They were able to accommodate our dietary needs right away. Check in was smooth and quick. The rooms had their own bathroom.

Everything was perfect

The staff was really nice, and the meals were great. 10 minute walk from the station and the gorge. We really appreciated that a washing machine/dryer was in the hotel.

The room is a bit old, but nothing too bad.
