Room was larger than is common in Japan, and spotless. Beds were comfortable and the shower hot and powerful. Upstairs onsen was a bonus, especially on a cold winter's day.

Location isn't particularly central, and Kesennuma's two main museums aren't directly accessible by public transport, A BRT station is not much more than a brisk five minute walk away, though, and hotel staff will happily call a taxi if desired.

Very clean older building in Kesennuma. There's a lot of reasons I'd give the hotel a break because it's a rural hotel in Kesennuma. The lobby is lower than ground level because of the debris brought in by the Tohoku Earthquake tsunami and Kesennuma appears to be trying hard to get back to their new normal. It's an older building that could use some renewal. Breakfast was off-site because they don't have enough seating in the building. I checked in too late to get an early slot that I needed because of trains. The off-site breakfast was wonderful, though. The fish I had in the area was some of the best I've had.

This hotel is located in an industrial area near the fish market, but about 15 minutes walk from "downtown". There's nothing much nearby that I saw but I didn't do that much exploring. It's also a bit of a walk from the BRT stop.

Loved the bath and especially the private outside bath you could reserve! The town was wonderful and the staff was very accommodating, helped me schedule a taxi twice and were easy to understand. SO close to Umi Ichi, wish I had had more time to checkout a few of the local little restaurants in the area.

Ooof, it's time to change out that hallway carpet. I believe I stayed on 4F and it was incredible how dirty and stained it was. I understand the hotel survived through the 2011 disaster, but the rooms/front are fairly maintained - time to make the hallway match. Also - there wasn't an outlet to charge my phone quite near the bed. Not a big deal but a bit disappointing.

Dinner was exceptional. Fresh sashimi and a wide variety of dishes presented in artistic form were the most delicious we have ever had. Be sure to bring a lot of appetite because the portion is big.

The carpet on the guest room floors was stained and could be replaced.

Elegant decor, excellent facilities, tasty breakfast, friendly and competent staff. We'll certainly choose this hotel again when staying in this area.

Very inconvenient to get luggage in and out of property to the parking area because of steps, narrow entry’s, etc. Nice breakfast but no choices
