Everything was perfect. Our room was on the second floor and our luggage was arranged by the staff to be received and forwarded to our next accommodation seamlessly. Staff was professional, polite and very helpful. The onsen which we were brought to was amazing. The breakfast was also amazing. Even the staff clearing the used plates was mindful about the noise they were making. Which we appreciated and could enjoy the breakfast better. Thank you.

Sparkling clean and very spacios rooms with airconditioning, very comfortable futon beds. Bike parking is available if you do Shimanami Kaido cycling route - just contact the property staff beforehand. The staff is very polite and friendly. They offered and drove us to a near by spa (onsen) and we only had to pay the spa entrance fee. The kaiseki breakfast they serve is exceptional! Totally recommend this Ryokan!

Stayed here in the middle of our Shimanami Kaido Cycling route and it was perfect! They have a large parking area for bikes and it's not too far off the main path. The room was very spacious, comfortable, and clean, and had everything we needed. Great place to rest after a lot of biking. There's also a couple of restaurants nearby that are open until late. They also serve a delicious and filling Japanese breakfast.

Everything was exceptional! Our room was beautiful and while it’s 7k off the main bike path, the ride to Sawaki was my favorite ride of the entire shimanami kaido route. They had tea waiting in our room for when we arrived. I don’t think the photos are accurate, because our room and our private bathroom was beautiful! We also had dinner and breakfast, both of which were phenomenal. My husband has a shellfish allergy, and they were incredibly accommodating to him!

The Japanese style room was very nice, we had one with a bathroom, which was convenient, but the other seemed to be a bit nicer decorated. Breakfast was delicious, we also had dinner (reserved after reservation via message) which was good, lot's of fish. There's also a room for bicycles and they have a nice, huge stone garden. Our room seemed to be recently renovated (at least partly). There's a park nearby with beautiful cherry blossom

Amazing, traditional accommodation for our family of four whilst cycling the Shimanami Kaido. Arranged for us to be driven to the nearby onsen, which was an awesome experience. Breakfast was incredible, and they very kindly accommodated the vegetarians in our family.

An absolutely outstanding experience, thanks to the hospitality of the staff and Mai-san in particular! Mai-san went above and beyond, making sure we have a great experience and even drove us to an incredible, local onsen. The ryokan is located in the middle of Shimanami Kaido cycling route and is a perfect stop for a two-day trip. if we ever do this route again, we will definitely book Sawaki!

The ryokan is starting to show its age, but we didn’t mind as it added to the atmosphere.

Very accommodating staff, I made a last minute reservation for dinner as well and they were able to fit us in. Room was large and traditional bedding was comfortable. Breakfast was incredible. Would recommend to anybody doing the Shimanami Kaido or just visiting the area to stay at Sawaki.

We feel Sawaki provided an excellent opportunity to experience authentic Japanese lodging so distinctly different from more modern, western style accommodations. We almost felt transported to another time and believe the experience was something we could never find in our own country. It has been a high point in our visit to Japan.

Good location close to shops and restaurants in this small town. Great traditional Japanese rooms and very spacious. If you are looking for a place about half way on the bicycle ride between Imabari and Onomichi then this is an ideal place to stop for the night.
