Cute little place, feels just like a traditional family home. Very nice staff that recommended a good restaurant to us. Bathrooms feel a bit old, otherwise everything looked nice and was clean. Everything necessary for staying the night was provided, so you didn't need to pack much for your cycling-tour. All in all perfect stop for splitting a 2-day tour on the shimanami kaido!
The only bad thing was that you can hear what is going on outside your room very well, so if you have someone travelling with kids there like we did, be prepared to be woken up early.

This is the second time I've stayed at NEST. The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. There is a lovely little communal area on the ground floor with some good reading material on the Shimanami Kaido, and breakfast is available. There are a number of good small restaurants within walking distance, but I suspect these may be seasonal and family run businesses, so they may not always be open.
The stairs here are probably a little steep for what I'm typically used to, but pretty standard in Japan. Not a huge deal, but they just require a little care.

We were biking from Imabari to the Nest and didn’t know exactly when we would arrive. The owner was waiting on the promenade to make sure we weren’t lost as it was sundown by the time we arrived. That was very considerate of the owner. The location was perfect. There was an excellent sashimi / rice joint and public bath around the corner.
Coming from a long bike ride, the stairs to the room were a little daunting. It was doable of course, but something to keep in mind if you have a lot of luggage or will be tired after a long day of bike riding. The reward was a comfortable night’s sleep on the futon.

A perfect stopover on the Shimanani Kaido bike trail from Onomichi to Ehime. Warm welcome from Rin who spoke great English and outstanding facilities- a modern but traditional Japanese guest house for all ages. Tatami and futon with kitchen facilities and an outdoor garden area for a beer. Drinks available, great views and easy access to toilets and washroom. Close to a family run eatery with amazing okonomiyaki and lemon goods all over the place. Right on the port if you decide to catch a ferry back to Onomichi or great spot to keep riding to the next island. Loved this little place and would definitely recommend.

This is an excellent place to stay while cycling the Shimanami Kaido. The beds were comfortable, the whole place was extremely clean and they have everything you could need in the bathrooms (face wash, hair stuff and so on), so you don't need to bring any of that with you. The terraces are lovely places to chill out and the location is great - near restaurants and the port. The person who welcomed us was very friendly and spoke excellent English. Highly recommend!

Lovely, sweet hostel-style accomodations on Ikuchijima. Only a short detour from the standard Shimanami route so perfect for people doing the ride over three days. In a great location for walks around the island. The property itself was clean, well-equipped with all the essentials and had everything we needed for a quick pit-stop (including beers in the communal mini bar down stairs!). The staff member working was really friendly and helpful when it came to finding somewhere to eat (we were in town on a Monday in the off-season, so our options were limited). Definitely recommended for a short, good value stay.
No complaints!

I enjoyed the reception and welcome at check in. The place is an old traditional Japanese place, but it’s been kept very nice and clean and the facilities like bathrooms are all renovated. There is a very nice lounge and kitchen. There are tea and coffee, self service. It’s almost in front of the ferry port, and in walking distance (~10 minutes) to Kousanji (temple) and the hill of hope.
Not a negative point, but maybe good to know: It’s an old wooden building, so it’s inevitable that it was cold outside my room in a winter night (my room was perfectly warm though).

Very convenient location about halfway through the shimanami kaido, right next to a local shopping street with nice izakayas. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The place was immaculately clean and other guests were very respectful about cleanliness and noise. The beds were really comfortable.
There was only 1 women’s and 1 men’s shower for all the guests, but the place only houses a few guests so it wasn’t a big problem at all.

A lovely couple run this little hotel. Shared toilets and showers are spotlessly clean and there’s a cool, fully equipped lounge area with kettle, microwave, washing up station and a self service bar wirh artisan beer. Reasonably priced and our room had a view onto the Harbour and yellow bridge over the road. Definitely recommend this little hotel/hostel.

location is excellent, such a great little town, this hostel is right by the water, a temple just behind and some good restaurants nearby. The room was large for 2 people and bunk beds were comfortable . The staff were helpful.
Not enough shared toilets and no privacy between rooms, but they do warn you about this. Nowhere to hang wet gear .
